Does Sevin spray kill fungus gnats

Hi everybody i have a real bad problem with the gnats i sprayed the plants with some sevin today and those things are still flying around like crazy just wanted to know how good of a job sevin does on em thanks !
 
I dunno about fungus gnats, but it sure did a number on the aphid infestation I had in previous years of indoor growing. I had tried all the hippy dippy crap and quite frankly the 'remedies' did more damage to my plants than the cures. Two applications of Sevin and the aphids were all but done. Of course you do have to take the appropriate cautions (don't let your pets get at it, don't spray it in your child's face, don't drink it etc.). Hope it works for your gnat problem, although that may be a bit different considering they tend to lay eggs in your soil.

Cool yea i had it work great on aphids to i guess yesterday they were taking they last fly before the die lol today everything seems kinda calmwill keep a close eye i went ahead and drenched the foilage aswell and the soil when i treated so wish me luck
 
Very bad stuff. Let the surface of the soil dry out some as keeping it too moist is what makes the gnats worse. Get a vacuum and suck them up while they are flying around, that will get rid of some.
 
Just be careful with Sevin. It's nasty stuff and you really don't want to over apply. There's a reason DDT got banned number of years ago! Which of course this isn't near that bad but just watch out when spreading chemicals around every time you see a bug. Sevin will kill all bugs good and bad.
 
Neem would be a better choice by far.
You can also use sticky fly traps and some people swear by making a trap with a bottle and a small hole in the lid with apple cider vinegar in it. I can't comment from experience personally. I would just live with gnats before getting drastic enough to use Sevin on a plant with edible fruit especially.

I don't know about fungal gnats but just house gnats (who knows... could be the same damn thing) we use the trap you speak of every year and it does work. They climb in the hole to get to the vinegar and can't find a way to get out and die. 
 
Sundew (the carnivorous plant) was my solution to fungus gnats last year - and boy does it work. 
 
Trying to get hold of one this year but it's a bit early for them I think...
 
Edit: also pinguicula (butterwort) is a good choice...not my pic (thankfully!) but pretty funny to see

Both are incredibly easy to keep - I have left a pinguicula in the bathroom for A YEAR* without water *suddenly feeling guilty*. It's still alive though. Sundew die a bit quicker without water but still pretty unfussy.

Seven kills everything but mites, and I mean everything. Since there are no beneficial insects inside, I would have no issues with doing it for aphids, but it is a bit overkill for fungus gnats.
