seeds please help I need seed info

I am seeing people presoak seeds before planting.

What to soak in (details please) how long to soak?

Also see double solo cups. I think that means the inner cup has holes in it and water is added in outer for bottom watering?

The few that I sewed on Feb21 still have not come up (hab seeds from grocerystore bought pods that I dried)

I feel that I messed up. I bought one "grow light bulb" and have them under it or in the sun on the back porch.

I keep the soil damp (top watered seed soil) and have a plastic ziplock bag loosely overthem to trap moisture.

That seed soil was bone dry and hard to moisten. I put the seeds in it dry then top watered it moist. It bubbled and floated untill it finnaly settled.

Smilleyguy is sending me some AWESOME seeds that should arive today or Friday. I want to make sure I do it correctlywiththose seeds.

THANKS,

Rymerpt

okay so here we go.

1) I soak in hydrogen peroxide and water mix for about 24hrs
2)yes that is what the double cups are for
3) I would just wait on them.
4) I like to put my seed starter or soil in a separate container add water gradually while mixing it up, rather than trying to put it in dry then trying to water it down it doesn't give it agood amount of moisture either dry in the middle or super wet.

You don't really have to soak, but some folks choose to. I know some use a hydrogen peroxide solution, and some use just water for 24-48 hrs. I don't usually do any of that, as I prefer to repeat what nature does.... those things don't need any intervention from us in the wild, ya know? However, some helping them along never hurts.

How much peroxide?

I personally use 1 part peroxide to 4 parts water for a soak or seedling watering..  If I'm killing mold or something I use the full strength of the 3% stuff.

any kind of tea (chamomile is great). Make cup of tea, mix half and half with water in soaking container.

if you use trays you don't need to do this as you can just bottom water the whole tray. But yes that's what its for.

thats pretty long, 2-4 weeks is usually my max

sun from window (full sun) and/or grow light bulbs work.. It's ok if they are under lights when they are germinating it doesn't hurt them.

ok thats normal when they are germinating, until you get the hooks, then you take the ziploc off

yeah sounds like a very compacted soil with crappy drainage.

I ordered seeds from seedrack, and I didn't have to soak at all.  Your seeds will come up eventually, they can take anywere from 5 to 15 days.  Just make sure your papertowel is moist (not dripping), and that they are kept somewhere where it will stay a little over 70 degrees... Ive heard other people talk about seeds not germinating from store bought veggies... Could be that they were grown with chemicals or something along those lines.  Also, I have videos on youtube about my experience with using paper towels compared to just putting them in soil right away.  The soil method worked much better for me.
