tsurrie's annums (and couple chinenses) grow 2014

So, here they are ... my babies... unknown Cayennes (someone in I.D. section says it's similar to Hot Portugal), Bolivian Rainbows, Goatsweeds, As chillies, Bolgarian Carrots and some non-hots even, for my wife and friends...

I planted the first seeds in late january, the next ones in the middle of february... and in about three weeks from now, they're going out... it all depends on the weather forecast...

for the last time... this years hottest is ... goatsweed.... but for next year I promised myself some superhots... moruga, reapers, bhuts..... whatever I'll decide to get by the end of the year... what do you think?

EDIT: I decided later to get two superhots this season and now I'm growing also Bhut Jolokia and Fatalii yellow ... will see by the end of the season if I need to go any hotter

ok, I'm sad to report that all the peppers I got in a Jiffy planting pots are turning yellow and are growing very ...very slow.... i came across some information that it could be because of a high PH these pots have .... ??!?!? maybe .... anyway, I'm never using "peat" pots for starting plants again ... just plastic cups from now on.... luckily I have plenty of peppers in plastic cups and are almost ready for transplant

every pepper i have ever had in a plastic cup has always grown as it should, big strong .. always on time for moving to bigger pots....

so I decided I'll give some of these "failing" plants a chance to heal a little.... I just don't want to terminate'em.... I'll replant them tomorrow and see what happens

on a brighter note ... dad and I replaced the foil on our greenhouse ... it started to bug me last year because of the bugs and dirt caught around corners ... but now it looks as new.... yaaay
greenhouse.jpg

we also added another window on the roof of the greenhouse, becouse it gets crazy hot in there so this should help the airflow and this window will be great for bee's to get out

so, I did some transplanting over the last few days ... into the greenhouse, on the garden and into pots....

here are my Bolivian Rainbow, Cayenne, couple of Goatsweeds (lightly trimmed)
and in the bottom row couple of AS chillis, another Goatsweed and Bulgarian Carrot
dsc0728.jpg

got a few extra Bolivian Rainbows and a rosemary..... under my "lemon tree"
dsc0729.jpg

the main reason for doing an update is that I went shopping today and got a couple of "roommates" for my plants ... so here they are freshly bought...
mr. bhut and mrs. fatalli :)
dsc0731.jpg

already transplanted of course and ready to kick ass
dsc0734.jpg

hope they'll do well, since now there was no major problem ... little aphid infestation on one plant but that was already taken care of... will need to constantly check as it seems they really like young plants

that's it for now ... I'm happy today

... but as almost all living creatures tend to have predators ... I really need to be careful and look out for the nasty things these local "tree monkeys" can do... I don't know if you have them in other parts of the world .. but here are sure active .... :P
dsc0737.jpg

an update to my Adjoema type habanero's grow from seeds outta local supermarket chilles... which ya'll helped me identify in the I.D. section

so... saw another hook a few days ago.. two up for now, three out of five still under :)

that's how the first sprout of my Adjoema looks today...
ajiumba.jpg

I'm gonna cover this further on my glog, since this is an i.d. section..... ok, see ya there....

so... about a week ago there was another hook (the one on the left).. so the germination rate for now is 3 out of 5
this is all of them now .. the one on the right is the one in the upper picture ... I'm hoping to get a few pods this season even the plant is still young and we have just good three months until the end of the season (the weather in september just starts to suck around here)
adjoema3outof5.jpg

hoping for the best :P

i think my peppers are growing ok.
they dont seem to mind an aphid infestation fourteen days ago

here is my Adjoema in 5gal container .. this is the right seedling on the picure in the last post
it's forming quite big leafs and is finnaly growing stronger
adjoema5gal.jpg

this is my second Adjoema in 2gal container (the middle one in last post)
adjoema2gal.jpg

anyone has any info on how long it takes for this pepper to ripe pods ?

here are my balcony plants .. all in 5gal container
this is As chili.... already growing first pods (the first one among all peppers)
aschilibalcony.jpg

and my Bhut J. - started to show some progress
bhutbalcony.jpg

here is Cayenne (we'll see if it still looks like Hot Portugal)
cayennebalcony.jpg

Fatalli Yellow is small, but getting bushy ... hope it will produce some pods ya'll talking how good it is
fatallibalcony.jpg

and a couple of Goat's weeds off course ..
goatsweed1balcony.jpg

goatsweed2balcony.jpg

you can tell this one had aphids but it's picking up the pace now
goatsweed3balcony.jpg

and there's my onground lineup
Bolivian Rainbow, Cayenne, Goat's weed and i think it's As chili
bolivianrainbowwithcompa.jpg

Bolivian Rainbow in 5 gal container

I just love the way it started to flower... deep purplish
bolivianrainbow5galflowe.jpg

that's it for now, I'm watching, watering and hoping for a decent weather in the future months

it's time for an update...
yesterday we came back from our week long holiday by the sea and in the morning when I woke up I was surprised by how much everything has grown in just one week (in the garden and also in pots) ... my parents said there was a lot of rain but very warm in general ... so ... looks like there still is hope for a good growin' this year :)

here are some pics ... so this is like two weeks after last pics on this glog...

Adjoema in 5gal containter .. growing fast
adjoema5gal29jun.jpg

cayenne .... nope
it's Bulgarian Carrot in 5gal and (I think this is not As chili like I thought) Cayenne .. in 1,5gal
cayenne5gal1gal.jpg

here is something interesting ... I planted this overwintered Goat's weed right in the middle of two blueberry bushes .. because I needed one more pot ... and it started to grow just fine ... looks like there will be some fruit off of this one
owgoatsweed01.jpg

on to my balcony plants...
here's As chili
aschili5gal29jun.jpg

my Goat's weeds
goatsweedno129jun.jpg

goatsweedno229jun.jpg

goatsweedno329jun.jpg

here's Cayenne ... another nope
it's another AS chili in 5 gal ... damn I wish this would be Cayenne couz I really like them fully ripe and pickled .. hope I'll have enough anyway
cayenne5gal29jun.jpg

Bhut J. wants to escape
bhut5gal29jun.jpg

and even Fatalli is trying to grow ... hope there will be pods not just bush 'till the end of the summer
fatalli5gal29jun.jpg

Bolivian Rainbows are growing too .. but I didnt took any pictures ... everything else in the garden is starting to produce ... tomatoes are growing wild this year and I hope they'll stay healthy ... cucumbers and pumpkins like the rain a lot ... eggplants are kinda slow but trying ... beans are turning into a jungle ... but damn me for not getting protective nets already cause it gets me worried everytime there is a storm coming ... the hail would shred everything into pieces

well that's kinda it ... what do you think?

Really nice plants! Can't wait to grow my own goat's weed next year!
I see the As chili still have the pods from previous update, right? Man, happy you... I can't resist, and already ate all the pods from my plants :-)

Awesome, lots of buds and pods, dude... how old are your blueberry plants?

thanks
blueberry plants are a couple of years old but I got them when they were like 50cm in height... so they were I'd say 2 year old seedlings... I'll post a picture when I remeber to take it :)  (I just came from work and it is almost 11PM)
they're maybe 1m in height now but not very productive .. I have yet to figure out how to grow blueberrys ... I think the soil in the garden is not acid enough ... I was told they like lower PH

thanks ... can't wait to see you posting pics next year when you'll have fully loaded Goat's weed plants ;)

Yes, As chili still has pods, none fell off ... :) .. cayenne and overwintered GW too .... Bolivian Rainbow is starting to make pods ...
I won't touch them until fully ripe.... maybe one .. no .. yes .. maybe :)

I know how it is .. but I can wait just a little longer .. still have a nice jar of homemade sauce from last years peppers too keep my mouth burning a bit ... and I'm buying pods when I have a chance ... I like those Antilles habanero type peppers from the store in nearby city .. they have a really nice kick

things are growing and even if it's raining mostly, I can finally show some pictures of the pods that are starting to grow .. finally :woohoo:
so this time all I can offer are some closeups... here we go

As chili ... if this thing is gonna keep on podding up, it will soon have more pods than leaves
aschilipods.jpg

Bolivian Rainbows are doing fine - not lots of pods but it's a start
bolivianrainbowpods.jpg

the most promising of all plants right now, but I know it will stay smaller than the most ... Bulgarian Carrot
bulgariancarrotpods.jpg

the first real Goats weed pods are on my overwintered one... looking bad ass
will see how the Goats weed will turn this year .. judging by the flowers difference (check further down) it must have crossed, but don't know with what strain ...a shame, but maybe not .. will see
goatsweedpods.jpg

Adjoema hab. is budding up and I'm cheering for some pods soon...
adjoemabuds.jpg

Bhut J. - beautiful light green almost white flowers
bhutjbuds.jpg

Fatalii Yellow ... I don't know why, but I look forward to this one the most ...
fataliibuds.jpg

last but not least ... Goat's weed .... I have three different pots on the balcony .. and one has pretty different flowers .. check these out
no.1 ... pretty much like last year ... this one is OK in my book
goatsweed1flower.jpg

no. 2 - pure white ... I dont remember them having pure white flowers last year .. any experts on this subject ?
goatsweed2flower.jpg

no. 3 - beautiful but I think a cross for sure ...
goatsweed3flower.jpg

what do you think? .. I have to check the others on the garden and around the house
I'm gonna probably be happy with anything that grows as long as it keeps most of the heat of standard Goat's
these babies can be HOT

Nice growing plants!
I am also waiting for that much-praised Fatalii...Have 2 plants this year.
The last one is from your 2013 grow seeds, or the original seeds you got/bought ?

Thanks!

Every one of the Goat's weed plants (except overwintered one obvious) are from my 2013 grow seeds.... Cayenne and Bulgarian Carrot too.
Hell, what do I know .. maybe the pods from this last plant will taste the best (it sure looks nice doesn't it) .. I'll see what happens.

Today I couldn't resist anymore... I had to get a taste what is growing around the house .. so I took a bite at one of the overwintered Goat's weed pod and it has such a nice sting ... it's gonna be awesome when ripe ...

then a few hours later just before the sunset .. when I was watering the pots ... I had to go and pick one fat pod of As chili plant ... I sliced it in half and it smells nice ... has a decent heat for an unripe medium hot chile ... it bites the tounge and the side of the mouth but loses it's kick after two or three minutes .. decent kick, nice aroma ... wonder how this one is gonna be when ripe...

that's it .. got to share that experience and I hope I'm not gonna eat 'em all before they even grow :)

p.s.: due to weather conditions we have around here (daily rain for a few weeks now) I had to prune a lot of tomato plants because of septoria ... hope a few days of dry weather will help now ...

First ripe pod of the season.... "and the winner is", ... "As chili of balcony pot no.1"  :)

It is a nice looking chili ... 4 cm in length ... pointy tip .... firm crunchy skin and nice pepperish smell
aschilizrel01.jpg

I got 11 seeds from this one ... ate it and it has a nice quality medium burn, I'd say 3/4 of Goat's weed hotness
aschilizrel02.jpg

these are gonna be great for pickling whole

well, another time for an update
pods are growing.... everything seems to be OK, only my cayenne is dropping some pods, I bet this is the result of constant raining and my lazy ass not to always take the pots away from the rain ... eh

this is the view off all my balcony plants
they are all doing OK, i kinda expected that AS chili would be a little bigger, but is a heavy producer anyway
balcony.jpg

here it is, As chili and all its pods ... have another just like this one ... already ripen some pods but I eat them regulary, they're quite delicious
aschiliaug145gal.jpg

Goats weeds are doing well, they got big and have a nice number of pods on them .. none ripen yet
no.1
goatsweed1aug145gal.jpg

no.2
goatsweed2aug145gal.jpg

no.3
goatsweed3aug145gal.jpg

Bhut is gonna kick some butt.... :) .. shooting out pods like crazy .. I never tried one of these before .. I guess I'm gonna have to try it a lot of times now ;)
bhutaug145gal.jpg

look at all those pods .. I was told Fatalli was a heavy producer, but this one is just acting crazy ... this is Bhut isn't it ?
bhutjaug145gal.jpg

speaking of Fatalii ... it does have a few pods in the making
fataliiaug145gal.jpg

here are the tiny pods for now ... I just hope there's gonna  be enough sun till the end of the season for the plant to ripe'em
fataliipods.jpg

and off to my on-ground section ... this is an overwintered Goatsweed .... pushed out quite a number of pods for it's size... doing good.... gonna keep it for next year if possible, maybe make a bonchi
goatsweedowaug2014.jpg

bump anyone?
