Hot pepper hard candy fun...

Last night I got bored and I made some hot pepper hard candies with TS moruga flakes. Nothing fancy, just sugar, water, light corn syrup and a bunch of TS moruga flakes. Actually turned out pretty tasty, but not quite edible for mortal men. I am gunna make more here soon, but I am gunna try flavoring them with maybe some orange or lime extract this time.

Well...

I brought a bag in to work for a coworker who also like spicy stuff and she enjoyed them as well. At one point during the day that coworker and I left the building to make a run across town and she had left the half eaten bag of candies on their work station. When we got back we found four of the employees hovering the trash can, faces red as the sun with fluids coming out of every orifice. The moment they saw me, one of them half turned his head and said, "Ben, you're an !@#$%!" (They know I am the pepper guy). I guess they found my coworker's bag of candies and helped themselves to some without asking. Of course we were laughing too hard to be even remotely upset that they took them without asking because karma is a !@#$%.

That made our day for sure! I bet they think twice before doing it again.

Send some around to people on the site for reviews. I need to make a few of these.

Actually, I was thinking about doing just that! I wanna make them a few times to get it down how exactly I want it. This was my first ever attempt at hard candy.

i always did love those red cinnamon, or atomic fireball candies.

Me too! I easily have thousands laying around thanks to my mother in law finding them in bulk. I rarely eat candy, though.

That Is TOO FUNNY about the co-workers sneaking the candy!   A customer of ours put a couple drops of Pure Evil on a Gummy Bear and stuck it back in the bag to find out which co-worker was stealing his candy.  It Worked....kinda like what you described....

Add some flavor to the candy mix....Hot Lollies!....

After today at my job, my wife and I were talking about trying that very experiment at my wife's job. Someone constantly steals her food and snacks (who steals food from a pregnant woman?). I am gunna send her with some candy to answer that question. I feel no sympathy.

My next batch will be flavored. My wife picked up some orange extract tonight to try in it. I was planning on making a batch tonight, but I ended up using a bit of wine to make dinner and I ended up finishing the bottle myself, so playing with 305 degree sugar and lethal peppers might not be the best idea right now. :drunk:
Then once I get my recipe down, I'll send out some for yall to test out.

I recommend using strawberry extract. Spicy orange is good, but sometimes the pepper flakes clash with it a bit. Try using a few other flavors at the same time to see which one is the best. Can't wait till these are done!

My friend and I are working on some stuff, but until we have more pods it's on hiatus.  It's 3-D printed pepper shaped spicy chocolates.

I am hoping to get started today. It has been an unbelievable task locating molds for these things. They simply do not seem to exist around here, which I find bizarre with the Amish population here. However, I did locate some molds at a craft store about an hour away and I am going to pick them up here in a bit (this also gives me an excuse to dominate the Chinese buffet across the street).

I will pick up some other extracts as well. I bet a lime might be good.

And hot pepper chocolates? I'm in! *drool*

I think the reason theres no molds with the Amish is because they usually make everything themselves, and don't always trade with "the English".

Oh no, not at all. They have a zillion shops all over Holmes county and rely heavily on "the English", especially tourism. I can find just about every cooking item known to man at any of the Amish kitchen supply stores besides the two items I need; hard candy molds and woozy bottles. 90% of my business at work is Amish as well. They aren't quite like the movies make them out to be. I got my molds from Pat Catan's craft store in Wooster today and I'll just end up ordering the woozy bottles online. Now I just need to get off my butt and get in the kitchen and make something.
