Bumps on jalapeño pod?

I have a healthy 7 month old jalapeño plant currently fruiting. One pod didn't have the smooth texture of the other pods, but had hard bumps all over the skin. There are no pests on the plant. I sliced the pod open to inspect the inside, but didn't find anything out of the ordinary. This blister-like texture was only present on a single pepper and I couldn't see anything that looked like insect damage. I also sliced the bumps open, but it just looked like regular pepper flesh, solid, no fluid or anything strange.

If you know what causes this, please fill me in! I'm very interested to know what's going on with this pod.

To have it only on one pepper points to some sort of complicated genetic throwback disorder.

I'm gonna follow this to see if anyone knows for sure!
