I'm going bananas

Having problems with a couple of banana plants. I'm not in the ideal climate, but I'm told if I can get them established they'll be just fine. I transplanted them from 4" pots into 15 gallon containers when the cats kept eating the leaves. Anyway, any ideas what I need to do here? Sulfur? Calcium?

Well that didn't work. Lemme find a picture link that works. Still can't get images. . here's some links to dropbox.

The soil was still a little damp, but it didn't really show in the pics. Maybe I'll do a good soak in the morning anyway.

Where I live in Tennessee, i'd say the soil is far from ideal for banana plants, yet we have two that have continued to come up year after year. Never fertilized them or anything..

What are they in exactly? That looks like the stuff in a bag of plain potting soil I bought the other day.

Right now they are in potting soil, with one of the fert sticks that came with the plants. When I first moved them outside I out them in a potting soil/horse manure mix, but they seemed to do worse so I moved them into the straight potting soil. We've grown all kinds of things in our manure mix but bananas are a new one :D

Maybe what Gee posted will be helpful. These plants we have do incredible. I cut them back in the winter and cover them with mulch. Then in spring I uncover the stump and it comes back bigger every year. Have you considered putting them in the ground?

I have, I just don't know where I want them yet. Sounds like I need to get a slow release liquid fert for them too.

And I just came up with a spot for them. Guess I know what I'm doing after gym time today :D
