I'm big on balance. In most things in life: beer, cooking, and in hot sauces. Feisty Parrot's El Jefe (Smokey Jalapeno Mango Pepper Sauce) is what I would call a balanced sauce.
I'm always apprehensive when I see tropical fruits in the ingredient list. Some products go crazy with fruit. The mango here is restrained, giving just the right sour to complement the acidity of the vinegar. A bit of sweet rounds out the flavor, but this is not a sweet sauce by any stretch. Which is to my taste
Have had this twice on eggs, and it makes them pop. My only criticism is that I'd like a touch more smoke flavor.
So, I'm no pro reviewer, and it is true that I won this in a contest, so maybe I'm biased. But I will restock this when it's out!
