I woke up this morning and discovered a shroom has popped up in my soil overnight haha. I have seedlings in a seed tray, and I'm wondering if this could be an indicator that I'm overwatering? I just try to moisten the soil with a spray bottle twice a day, but some of them have a purple coloration on the leaves, but the rest are growing fine. Should I kill the shroom? It looks kinda cool :)
 
Good, I'm glad I don't have to.... Eliminate... The fungus among us. :D

Any idea what might cause purple on the leaves and the plant to shrivel and die?
 
I also think its light intensity is causing purpling. either raise the lights or put them in filtered sun. (not sure if ur in or out ?)
 
Really, light burn? Hmm. These seedlings are indoors under four 4-foot t8 shop lights (I believe 32 watt each?) about 5-6 inches underneath. Some are doing great right now, but I'm noticing more and more getting sick with this purple thing. Thanks guys.

Oh, and the lights are on 14-18 hours a day.
 
Take the shroom and cut it up and put it in other pots to help (inoculate) spread the spores to other plants!!!
 
Think of it as a gift from your soil, for doing a good job :party:

Similar set up and results, I was kind of surprised it happened. I've light stressed plants before, but that was a 1000w Horti :D Like modder said, it's harmless, and didn't appear to cause havoc.

+1! They're resilient as hell too, the first time I did this was a semi-soilless set up and they lived through the high EC feed, fruiting through all the drainage holes :D
 
mycelium is known to break down toxic waste.

We are now using mycelium computer models to find the most efficient ways to make roads and even computers. The tree network in Avatar was most likely based on the same idea.

Nice, was reading about mycoremediation a few weeks ago, incredibly interesting stuff.
 
Not to mention they can make your legs melt and turn whatever song playing into "the" song :D
 
Nice to know about the shrooms. I had another one pop up next to one of my more mature peter peppers!

I'm still kind of worried about the purple thing though because the ones that get it are dying. Nonetheless, I don't think it will extinctify any of my species, since I have 5 of each :)

I had a mushroom once that made cars sound like spaceships. And the coals in my bonfire looked like gold nuggets but I didn't want to touch them... After that I saw a spartan warrior in the clouds, floating across the sky with his sword thrust out. That's normal right?

Trees actually do talk to each other through their roots and by chemicals released topside too.
 
The myco-remediation kind of dispels the notion that a mushroom popping up means you have healthy soil.
