carolina reapers

hello everyone ! this is my first year at growing carolina reapers , about how tall and across do the plants get ? and whats average yield per plant ? thanks for the help

So many factors play into the answer. Both plants I had last year were about 36 inches tall and as wide. As for yield, I'd say on the lower side of some super hots. I think I plucked 150ish off 2 plants.

In high tunnel, mine are about six foot this year.  Production is usually on low end of super hot, but in the high tunnel it got too hot and had flower drop  So even worse.  Not sure if maybe the heat made them spring up.  They do seem bushy enough.

Definitely agree with JHP on the yield, was pretty low especially when compared to other super hots. My Butch T produced a ton though.

Thinking on what you said.  Trinidad Scorpions produce very well for me compared to other super hots.  Butch T was isolated out of Trinidad Scorpions, so I expect it to be about the same.  I wonder if maybe some of the other super hots lag a bit for being bred for appearance more than productivity.

My pondry is kind of related to the CARDI vs. Not CARDI yellow scorpion.  My not CARDI produce a hell of a lot better than my CARDI.  I think it is because CARDI were selected for a very different climate.  My not CARDI spit pods out a whole lot sooner.

Its funny, I have yet to see anyone promote a new super hot by saying it is drought, disease, pest resistant, or season length.  CPI does a lot with those topics, but not so much in the super hot category.  I cant say I do a lot with it, but I do put no bug bites into my thoughts when I am selecting which plants to use for seed stock.

It is possible, I have definitely seen production differences in some species based on how cool the nights get here as some really like our fall and early winter. This year coming will be my first year with CARDI so i look forward to it.

Which one?  I have the yellow scorpion.  First season, not too many tails.  Culled for a bit, now they are looking more like I want them to.  If you are missing it, PM and we can trade.

My Reaper plants quickly shoot up to about 5-6' tall, with a 4' drip line. Production is not spectacular. But to be fair, I've never really put too much energy into production, because I have so many peppers that I like better. However, maybe that changes this year. I didn't grow any reapers, and I'm missing that flavor in a hot sauce.

Same way that I grow them now and the plant grew tall but never more than 15 pods at a time. The rainbird setup made a huge difference in  my grow this year.
