Mushroom Compost

Well, out here in the "Land of Cleve" (read: Cleveland) there seems to be only one kind of compost. Mushroom Compost.

Anyone have experience with this? Is it good for both pepper plants and regular veggies?

I'm getting a truck-load this week. Its usually been quite good for me, but I've heard some can be full of pesticides

i have found it to be the best compost ever. i have used several kinds including manure (cow and chicken), manure compost, and mushroom compost and the greatest success was acheived w/the mushroom. it is very strong and needs to be cut with soil or peat or some other substance...but very nutritious. i used it to create a seedling soil and they have flourished.

What I was going to use it for is as a side dressing. Plut a little layer of it around the plant and take a hand rake and mix it into the top part of the soil slightly. Will that be too much for the plants?

I was not paying attention as I often do, I thought it said you were using mushroom compost as a salad dressing. I think I need to lay off the shrooms myself. I read it like three time before I relized it said side dressing. I must be hungry

I find there is no such thing as too many magic mushrooms ;)
I don't know, Iggy. Many years ago, my sister-in-law gave me some mushrooms. Tasted pretty good. But for some reason I was led to a boat dock and had an urge to try to swim across the Ohio River, even though I am not a good swimmer. Thankfully, my body didn't really want to move - I was satisfied with just watching the moonlight reflect into my eyes.
