media Jiffy pucks?

I have a bunch of peppers planted in jiffy peat pucks ready to be transported into some solo cups for the time being. My question is, should I remove the mesh that is around the pucks before planting? I know they are supposed to dissolve, but it seems like it may be a better idea to remove them prior to planting.

yeah remove or cut it in an X a few times around and on the bottom.

If the roots have already pushed themselved through the mesh, remove the mesh very carefully, as it could rip the roots out, or just plant them with the mesh in place in that case. My Yellow Morugas have been just fine with the mesh still in place :)

Personal preference I would say...I don't remove the mesh at all on mine and the roots grow through it just fine...inversely I remove the biodegradable pots when I plant out because I think they can be an eyesore when they poke out of the soil.  *shrug*

We usually plant 2-3 seeds per peat pellet and always remove the netting since we have to separate the seedlings for transplanting.  No matter how careful we are in removing the netting, roots may come along with what we remove.  I don't see any problem with the plants losing a piece of root or two.

I've tried cowpots for transplant one year and have never used them again.  We just weren't happy with them.

When ya plant them, get enough soil over the pucks. When you water and it settles, you may find the pucks sticking up a bit.I dont think it harms anything,it just looks annoying as heck.

I have seen this topic on here 3 times before. I believe the general consensus was to cut or remove the mesh so the plants don't need to waste energy pushing through.

Is that the true? Why risk it either way right? its simple enough anyway, why not just do it to cover your bases?

Hmmm 1,111th post...
