Am I Missing Any Peppers?

I'm working on a scoville scale as a fun project. I was reading through The Hot Pepper and see its a group of some of the sharpest pepper enthusiasts on the net. I've been trying to compile an entire list and create info on every pepper, and as a pepperhead myself, I was amazed all the peppers that are out there, even new ones.

My project is located at http://scovillescaleforpeppers.com/the-scoville-scale/. Just wondering if anyone could spot any peppers missing. I have another list of about 30 more I haven't added, but I seem to get new ideas every time I ask, and hear about more peppers I've never hear of.

I'm even having troubles digging up info on some of them. It's been a great time building this site. Thank you in advance for any advice!

At the first look, is an interesting site! Thank you! Great job! I hope you will get as much as possible information, because is good to have all these in the same place. I will check your list, if I have nothing to add to it, at least I hope will find something to add to my growing list :-)

this year im going to get some Brain Strain 7 pots tested, i just wish cappy were around :(

I'm no authority but Cappy's Brains are the hottest I've grown & tasted.    This year I have them growing beside Reapers., T Scorps and 7 Pots.    We shall see.

I miss Cappy here, too.

Nice start, honestly, you might be missing a few thousand. There are a few sites with extensive lists, even some of the seed suppliers. I suggest getting started looking over one of those sites.

Even myself, far below!!!, being an expert pepper grower, finds little utility in your list as it fails to differentiate between the large heat range in certain varieties. Only with that more specifc information is the list useful beyond simple novelty use.

Great Site, Great Idea for one comprehensive SHU scale. That being said I do have a couple of suggestions/additions to add

Your list is only showing the upper levels of the peppers SHU, for instance Jalapeno ranges from 2,500-10,000. When you click on the jalapeno name it takes you to a page where you have identified the range on the SHU scale, uses, history, etc...i really like this page.  My sugestion for your list is to either make a list that is alphabatized or catergorized by species to make it more user friendly.  This list is going to get very long.

Think of this list as an ongoing, never-ending project. I would even put a little disclaimer at the top or bottom of the page that says "see I'm missing a chilie, contact me and let me know" or something to that effect.

Know that you can have diffirent types of the same pepper for instance jalapeno....there are biker billy, agriset, fuego, early, el jefe, fooled you...etc..etc..etc. I would suggest that for your list, yes ok to keep vauge but on your detailed page may want to add a section for types with a brief discription of each

I agree with JHP I would contantly be looking at seed vendors on the web to get info on various types of chiles, once you have the name you can do your own reaserch at that point. If ever stuck or find only limited info on a certian pepper than by all means come back here and ask for info, lots of chile knowledge here. Here are some vendors to get you started

To expand a little on what Chris said, Just taking the ghost pepper/naga types as an example, there are yellow bhuts, white bhuts, peach bhuts, naga morarchs, bhut orange Copenhagen, Bhut Indian carbon, Assam bhut and probably many more I am forgetting.

Wow, you guys are terrific, wonderful suggestions. Although I agree with beerbreath81, it is a never ending project. Also, I agree that I should have the ranges rather than the top SHU, it just makes it hard to list them from the hottest down, which a lot of people look for. We are contemplating doing it alphabetical instead to make it non-novelty, but at least its a start.

I'm very appreciative for the feedback!
