  1. Use a plastic bottle with with a twist-offcap.
  2. Place 3 to 5 seeds on top of filter
    • Cover seeds with sand (provided)
    • Moisten the sand with 3 drops of water
  3. After germination, about 7-10 days, mix fertilizer with water as per enclosed instructions.
Seeds germinate in 7 to 10 days. If your PetomatoTM fails to germinate, you can try again. Be sure to keep extra seeds inside your refrigerator.

Anyone have any experience?
 
I am new to all this..but how is it peppers will grow in hydroponics....but if you over water your peppers in ground/containers you end up with some of the most pitiful looking plants? Is it not so much that peppers dont like "wet feet" but more that with over watering they dont get any nutrients they need and they are provided that with hydroponics?

wet soil mean the roots get no air.
hydroponics usually you have an air stone/bubbler, or are using sprayers, or ebb/flow (fill up container, let it drain, repeat)

ahh...that makes sense hadnt thought of that. appreciate the response.
 
Somebody a while back had posted some pretty impressive results with a "passive" hydro grow, where there was no aeration.  If I remember correctly, the trick was that as long as there was plenty of root volume exposed to air between the stem and the water, . . .  that provided enough gas exchange for the plant.

I bought this, thinking it wasn't very expensive, so if it didn't work I wasn't out a lot. But it really does work! Right now I have it on a windowsill and the three seeds I started with have all sprouted. Directions are easy to follow and I'm getting ready to go to the next step of choosing one plant to keep in the bottle. Would be fun for kids, but also adults as well.

Hmm.
Seems I could do this myself with a bottle and sponge without the trouble of shipping and paying.
 
But then-------have you seen how big pepper roots get?
 
You should see what the inside of my 5 gallon root spa's look like. ;)

There is no reason you couldn't do this yourself the Green pet design would probably be easiest.
 
5 gallon bucket, net pot, air pump, and a bunch of clay pebbles works a treat for me---but may consider a smaller scale for smaller plant projects.

I always worry about a power outage or pump failure while at work with regular hydroponics.
 
I couldn't find the first seeds maybe the spray bottle (although I used it lightly) washed the seeds off the sponge between the plastic so I put in 2 more and I now have sprouts.I will add pictures in a few days.
