I love my guns

I wanted to know what other like as far as their guns. I have a CC license and what I carry is a Springfield XDS 45 ACP compact 3.3 with a crimson trace laser. I use +P rounds that travel at 1225 fps. It incredibly accurate and powerful, and highly concealable. Real game changer with this one, as its the thinnest 45 I have ever seen. Great protection. I also have a Mossberg 12 gauge with tactical butt and laser/light combo. I use 1500 fps 1 oz slug rounds for the ammo, mixed with one ounce slug, coupled with three 00 buck shot. Perfect home defense. Now I am looking for a nice rifle. I like HKs for the rifles, although there are others that are bad a$$ for less money.

For the record, I have them purely for defensive purposes, as well as target practice and hunting . Here in Orlando, the crime and murder rates are rising so i know I must be prepared.

Even if I'd like to have some shots and feel that smell again (last time did it when I had to serve in the army), I thank to God can't hear shootings here, on the streets.

I can understand how you feel. In my area I have not had too many problems, lets hope it stays that way. Just in case, I can defend myself and my family if the police cannot make it in time.

Everyone here has at least one.
And no crime to speak of either.

My Judge does everything I need it to do---out to 25 feet or so.

Much further than that would stretch the credulity of "self defense".

Do I have others?

Not telling. ;)

I have a S&W MP40c that I carry as a CC weapon. I also have a Ruger LCP that I carry sometimes.... I usually carry IWB  (inside waist band) with the MP40c but with the LCP I can just put it behind my wallet in my back pocket...very convenient...

When I carry, my carry stuff is similar but I opted for the S&W shield 40. It is thinner, lighter,  and shoots like a dream. Real easy to carry IWB. Also have a Kal-tek P3AT for when I need pocket carry.

Other than that, I dabble in a bit of NRA highpower shooting at the local range out to 600. Haven't had time yet this year for that though.

I was planning on picking up a Shield in 9. I had a Sig P226 in 40. While I could manage, I felt the 40 was a bit snappy. I like the idea of a 40 but tend to shoot a 9 better - more rounds on target. Either caliber would probably work fine.

I will be heading to the range tomorrow to practice to do a qualify shoot to get my CC. Taking the Kimber and Shield 9.

If it was anything like Ohio, the instructors will walk you through it, even if you shoot badly, they don't want anyone to fail.

IIRC, everything I shot was in the 9 ring or better at a pathetic 10 yards and the instructors were so impressed because most people could barely hit the target. Yet they all passed.

Open carry here---no need or desire to be on the CC "list".

Not the direction this country is going at the present time, anyway. :shh:

Nice choice of weaponry.
I oftentimes hear some who carry talk in such a way as if they are just waiting to shoot someone, but I feel different. I am willing to defend myself and my family and home, but I don't look forward at all to shooting anyone. It is to equalize a threat, and its taken very seriously by myself. I actually dread ever having to use it, but if needed I will not hesitate. I don't brag about it, and only those close to me know I am even carrying.  I understand that to carry requires great care and responsibility, and should never be taken lightly.
Having said that,  I am glad I carry a 45, as the knockdown power is significant. Granted the ammo is expensive, but in my opinion its the only way to go.  I used to use a 40, but I found that personally I could shoot the 45 better and had a kick I prefer with added knockdown power.

list or not, it wont matter.
In other countries and times, those "on the list" were the first to get "visited".

Not that I consider it imminent or inevitable here--- :censored:

I can definitely shoot my 1911 more accurately than my shield 40, but lugging that thing around all day would get tiring, not to mention trying to conceal it in the summer. Glad you like your 45 though. If the gun manufactures had one as small as the Shield 40, I would have gone with a 45 myself.

As far as the cost of ammo- reload. It doesn't cost me hardly any more to load 45 than 38spl or 9. About $6/box of 50 if I shoot lead.

What are you talking about? That is actively happening in NY and Kalifornia. They use the registration to find out who owns the guns they just legislated illegal and then go pick them up.
