Kiddies...It"s time to sink or swim 6/1/08

Well, after 2 full hard days of planting, I have finally got them all out with the exception of 15 plants (I ran out of soil and buckets). Therefore, they are all going to either sink or swim. I have to admit, I do have some pangs of dread, fearing what the cold hard world will bring to my youngin's now that they have left the protectiveness of the nest.

Ya, I am beat and apologize for rambling.......On with the Pepper Porn!

This bed is full of various Habanero plants and the buckets contain JalapeƱos, Serranos, Datil and 1 Tobasco

This one has tomatoes and sweet peppers. The buckets are Aji Red, Anahiem and False Alarm (for my Wife)

Last but not least...This bed is packed! It has Slim Cayenne, Thick Cayenne, Thai Red, Kung Pao, Tobasco and Lemon Drop.

All for the smaller plants are from Cross Country nurseries and they seem healthy.

The green buckets were free from a buddy of mine and yes, they are paint buckets. But I did clean the insides out real good and it was only latex paint. The recycle number on the bottom is the same as the used sour cream buckets I found (for $1.25).

I am exhausted, but need to find enough soil for the remaining 15 plants to finish.

looks really good Pepperfreak, I have still not got my peppers out but they are ready they have been in full sun for two days now. On another note the tomatoes are in and all of the watermelons and small melons 36 vines total. I will start putting the peppers in a little at a time after work I think I can get them all in by weeks end I have cut down the number i am actually putting out in the garden, only 240 plants.

In prison? Oh- in person.
Good job everyone:) on their plant-outs. I am going to have ato start getting creative this week to get all mine out.

Nice work pepper freak. Very Nice.

Andy - you have really nice plants as well. Where did you get those big green buckets? How big are they? How much did you pay for them?

I just checked and it looks like a few of them have actually grown an inch or so over night. *Its got to be my imagination...Right?*

Thanks guys, I cant wait to start picking peppers. The neighbors seem to be acting as if I have lost my mind. On neighbor started calling me Sergeant Pepper...LOL I like his reference to a great band/song.

That's funny. I'm sure my neighbors will think I'm wierd with a bunch of pots outside of the new apartment I'm getting as well. When were were looking to transfer it had to be facing south, and I wanted the bigger storage room so I can grow them all year. I think the person showing us thought that was wierd.

Well, its been raining here all morning and I'm sure the plants are loving it. I just wish it would stop long enough for me to get them all sprayed with Neem, since I found aphids on them last night.

If all of the plants shrivel up and die the neighbors will have a field day talking about my gardening abilities.

Ya, I just moved my plants (pepeprs and the ones still in the trays) inside the garadge in fear of them getting too much water.

HeHeHe...LOL...I don't think it would be wise for me to dig up all of my plants. 'Sink or Swim' they must... BTW, all 4 beds seem to drain really well and all of the buckets have 5- 7/8 of an inch holes drilled in them for drainage. I'm hoping and praying that they will be okay.

You should be fine...I tend to be over protective of my plants.

I covered most of mine or moved them on the porch, not because of too much rain but because the weather forecaster said the approaching storm contained large hail.

Thankfully, no hail but what a massive amount of rain in a 15-minute period. We've had about two inches so far, maybe a bit more, and it is suppose to rain tonight and tommorrow.
