I remember those looks....but then again, that was 45 years ago...

As I recall from several Devil Dogs I worked with, they've said over the years that pissed off and displeased with their recruits is the default mode of any respectable DI... that and they need to have a sharply acidic comedic wit that would make Don Rickles and Lisa Lampinelli blush...

Yeah I know all about being disciplined for that..I was almost was court martial (fitness report reflected instead luckily due to my seniors assistance) cause I lost it on some slob of a recruit....it's more serious then I ever imagined even though they taught us what NOT to do in DI school, I just couldn't help it...that is one stressful job...never worked more hours in my life...essentially you live with those recruits especially being the "heavy belt" or junior DI on the team...Proud Marine Dad said:He got in trouble once when he went beyond what he is supposed to. Edit..I also think all DI's almost get in trouble or do get in trouble for crossing that line cause like I said it is a hell of a stressful job..you seriously have to want to be a DI to be a good and effective one..your a leader of boys and turning them into men and Marines more importantly
It was funny when I visited him in December Smitty-deuce.
We went to graduation of his class and afterward when we were standing around shooting the BS a recruit that just graduated comes walking up after the graduation ceremonies with his arm around his girlfriend. Oh shit! PDA (Public Display of Affection). Off he storms towards the new Marine and corrects him as the kid drops his arm off his girl like she had the plague and say, "Yes sir!"
Afterwards the new Marine's dad comes up to my son and introduces himself and thanks my son for correcting him. It was classic!
He lost 20 lbs as the heavy was his friend who basically screwed him over to better himself. It's a shame how much back stabbing goes on in that area.
