Rocopica

Here is one of numerous C.pubescens x C.cardenasii/eximium interspecific hybrids. Very cool plant and the fruit are juicy,sweet,and hot with the texture of a cherry. Not as tasty as a pube,but better than tepin/pequin and not nearly as seedy. These would be great for a jelly and are great to snack on while watering the garden.

Thanks Judy! The plants are the stars. Sometimes I get lucky and get a clear picture. It's hard to get people interested in stuff without a crazy name or 7 digit scoville number. Sometimes nice photos work.

The calyx and flower are very cardenasii-like,I agree. Unfortunately,the original source passed away last year so it is a mystery as to whether it was exim or card.

This is a different hybrid from the pods I sent you.Prolificacy,structure and color transition of eximium/cardenasii. I actually think the flavor might be better. I don't have to twist your arm off to video review this one? :lol:

Very nice! They look great - I may have to try to grow them next year (if I can find some seeds). Take care.

This is a plant I received seed for labelled as cardenasii. I have little doubt it`s really a Rocopica, not too dissimilar to yours, John.

Very nice Nigel and John is it my eyes or is the Rocopica flowers more blue than Nigels (cardenasii) which seems a bit more purple?
I grew a couple plants that I got many years back of both the cross and true cardenasii, I woulder if he is still growing them I'll have to drop by and say hello maybe I'll get lucky and he still has the same type of rocoto that I got from him. They were really pretty aple red and the size of a plum.

Nigels are a bit more lavender but our conditions are polar opposites. The weather here has been pretty crazy,raining 4 days a week since April. They are all closely related whatever the mix is.
