Ausmith's 2014 Germany Glog

Hey gang...

I'm super late starting my Glog, but I figured I should do it anyway. Hindsight is always 20/20 and had I know we were to have a mild winter, great spring, and perfect summer... I would have, should have, could have started 6 weeks before I did. Anyway that's all water under the bridge and despite we are enjoying a nice little grow this year.

Big thanks to Rick for trading on the Arche Noah stuff I bought.

Space is a premium here in Germany, and I definitely crammed as many plants as I could in my area of the family garden (4 generations enjoying this plot) With a little more space I think we could have an amazing garden. Learning a little every season and already looking forward to next year :)

Anyway, on to the Pods.

This year I've got quite a good mix. A few didn't germinate, and a few didn't survive the transition from tent to outdoor, but regardless I'm happy with what we've got.

Dominica 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
When we took are honeymoon last year we visited the tiny island in the western Caribbean called Dominica (not Dominican Republic). Lush jungle/rain forest... Hit the local market on a Saturday and grabbed a bag full of local peppers. They have a brand of hot sauce from the island and at least two pepper farms, so I'm confident that these are unique. Resemble many other peppers, but not as hot as I was expecting. Definitely not super hots, but full of flavor.

Cherry Bomb
These seeds come from my father's next door neighbor in Florida. He's an older Indian guy who's hobby is chili plants. His wife died last year and it's been a really rough time for him. These plant are my best way to let him know I'm thinking about him.

Sakay Green
Seed from Rick. Man this plant has taken off into a real bush. Want to give one of these guys some room to grow next season.

Dutch Yellow
I harvested these seeds from a store bought chili. The only thing HOT I could find in Germany. Easy to start, faster grower, with lots of pods. These are actually pretty damn hot. The only thing I don't like is the high volume of seeds. Last year I de-seeded and made some great yellow powder.

Like the shape, color, flavor, and heat. This is one I can eat raw, cook with, or powder. Seeds were from Rick.

Clayton

Hi Clayton! Glad to see your growing season is well underway and you're well-placed for sauces and powders to carry you through the winter. :)

Those Dominicas look really interesting... I wonder how they stack up against a Tobago Treasure or Trinidad Perfume? Think you'd be willing to swap for some BOC or King Naga seeds when they ripen?

Good luck with the rest of your season... it looks like you're well-launched for now! Cheers!

tctenten - thanks!

stickman - 100% willing to share the love. On the lookout for a good Ancho if you have anything or similar.
