PSA: Rapistart (i think) kits dont work. This kit is one where the little starter cubes have to be soaked in warm water and puff up. Put seeds in them and kept them watered. Nothing sprouted for about 21-30 days.
Then the screw up. The so and i went on vaca for 4 days and i forgot to add water to the already failing started tray. Came back.....fried.
So now on to success. I decided to go back to my roots (haha), and use what i know rather than try all these new fancy things. Took 6 solo cups and some good old Fox Farms Ocean Forest and planted seeds. No more then 4 days later all but the cilantro had sprouted. Sometimes the old school, traditional way of doing things is best.
The Scorpion has started to yellow a little on the leaf edges, i have been watering about 1 cup every two days with about a 1/8th dose of big bloom mixed in to the water. Any ideas? The other two peppers have been getting the exact same treatment, but are taking off like rockets and already have some side growth starting.

Decided to top a couple of my peppers to let the scorpion catch up a bit and to keep them smaller over all. I have high hopes for them as they are bushy bitches as it is. Thanks for looking!

Family group shot!

Busy weekend!! Repotted everybody, peppers got 2 gal smart pots, everyone else got 1 gal post.  gave them a couple days to rest and then LTS'd the Thai Dragon and the Goat Horn. Within 3 hours the tops were already standing back up again.  Also started feeding them this weekend as i started to see some yellowing leaves.

Update on my lil garden! Everyone is loving their repot. Peppers are taking to their LST like crazy. Going to start cutting lettuce leaves this weekend. Something tells me that the purple pole beans are going to get crazy on me...

Wow, those are some stout, healthy plants. I'm really curious to see how they end up with the LST and all. Especially that catnip - that thing's gonna be a HEDGE!

Yeahhhh the catnip is going to have to go outdoors sooner than later i think.  Ive been topping it every three days or so and it just wont slow down lol.  I am very excited to see how these do as well, as i haven't seen anybody "mainline" peppers like this before.  Usually i see people that either top and leave alone, or just tie the plant down, not both together.  I will be trimming all growth along the stems to promote growth to the tops only.  Looking at the Thai compared to the Hungarian, im thinking that 4 tops is the way to go.  It has grown much more robust much faster.

Weekend update! It is looking like my theory is proving correct, 4 tops is much more sturdy than 6.  The hungarian has taken a noticeable lead over the thai in terms of stem thickness.  I may actually cut two tops from the thai.  My scorpion got topped this weekend, and ive noticed....she slow as hell! Are all scorpions like this?

Can you explain what LST is for this n00b? Those plants look fantastic and it'd be cool to emulate that. I have never seen wires holding branches down the way those are, very neat! Also, what type of light are you using? LEDs for the desired spectrums, right?

But of course! LST is low stress training, a method of training the plant to grow the way you want it to all while causing the plant very little stress. It allows for growing in tighter spaces as well as pulling the branches down like that causes the growth hormones to spread to the horizontal branches (this is most prominent in the thai dragon, I have to clip the growth every other day or so.) and causes growth from every node.

The light is just a cheap ufo led from ebay, less than $100. The ring of cfl's is a custom mount designed by me.  Total watts is around 520 or so, 420 of CFL and 100 of LED.

Another update! Everyone is busting out like crazy!  I think i am finally getting the scorpion dialed in, she likes to skip every other watering, doesn't hardly drink at all.  After making my first batch of pepperocini's wrapped in salami with some cream cheese for the holidays, i got a wild hair and started a couple Italian pepperocini seeds and they popped in about 2.5-3 days.  However, for every new life, there is death......I underestimated the drinking ability of a mature red romaine plant, and may have killed it, only time will tell.

Also....
When should i start adding blooming nutes?

Hungarian Goat Horn
Shes doing great! Strongest by far! She has crazy side growth going, so i pulled her over one more time and will let her go from here.  Shes really getting thick!

This bitch........Trying to keep her from flowering to let the stems thicken up a bit, but for every flower i cut off, there is three more that come through.  I'm just going to give up on cutting them and let her go for now and see how she does.  Going to be quite the bush.\

Shes starting to come out of her yellowing.  Im guessing a cross of over watering, mixed with lack of nutes.  i probably wont LST this one because she is so compact already.

Catnip going CRAZY!

Heres an update on my little cabinet. Everybody is exploding! The lettuce is going to have to go, it drinks too much and it taking up valuable pepper space, especially as the pepperoncini gets bigger and goes into a bigger pot. I cant keep the catnip under control! I feel like almost everyday i cut 2" and the next day there is 4" of new growth, however, our cat is in absolute heaven. Now, on to the good stuff.
Hungarian goat horn
She is very thick and hearty. Ive been trimming the undergrowth a little as it can impede airflow around the plant when topping and training like this (this will be much more evident on the thai dragon).

She is the bushiest of the bushes! When I run my hand over the top of this plant, it literally just feels like a hedge. This plant has been keeping me VERY busy keeping undergrowth cleaned up (before and after pic below). Soooooooo many buds!!!

Well, shes a little late to the game, but shes playing. Decided i was going to LST this one as well, as she took to topping very well. This plant drinks about a half to a third of what the others drink, i only water her about once a week if not less.

Shes moving right along. Probably will get a repot in a week or so, a little earlier than the others did.
