Pepper stems dying.

I have a couple bhut jalokia plants that some of the stems are slowly turning brown and dying. Both plants are about about 1.5 years old and are green and heathy looking. I looked for a sign of pests but I dont recognize any. Any ideas on what this is? This is happening to more than one plant and is happening very slowly.

Looks like pest damage but I cannot confirm or specify. Sorry
Someone will be along shortly though and shed more light I have no doubt.

Looked into this and it appears as though it is the beginning of a bacterial disease (the only studied one as of 2012) that is known as Ralstonia solanacearum that causes wilting.

That is as much as I could find that made sense.

this picture looks like you have mites problem on the leaves in the background.

^ I agree, that leaf in the background looks like it may have psyllids on it that are in a nymph stage.

I hate psyliids with a vengeance, they are as I understand it one of the worst & hardest to treat pests around..I have not seen much talk of them on these forums so I would guess most people don't get them where they live.
Aphids have nothing on psyllids.

I have battled them for about a year now, the adults look like innocent little sand flies, the eggs are generally attached to the edges of the leaves by a little tiny stalk, and the nymphs which do all the damage look like whats on the back of the leaf above your index finger.

I have battled them solidly for the last year. If you have them, and dont want to chop your plant down, bag it and throw it away then - Cleanse by fire :onfire:  a blow torch/lighter around the edges of the leaves to kill the eggs instantly. Fly spray the hell out of any adults. You can try pyrethrum or pretty much any insecticide on the nymphs, but it will only be partially effective because they cover themselves with a waxy coating.

Dont get too worried yet, they may not be psyllids

good luck

edit; if they are psyllids, then adults look like this. The eggs are the little yellow/orange things along the edge of the leaf. They usually lay them on new growth. Look hard, they are SMALL. The adult is probably 1.5 to 2mm long.

this image is a bit deciving I think, as they are usually harder to see..but anyway the nymph stages look like this;

Thanks guys, I don't think it is that, I have checked all under the leaves and have been spraying them.  The weather here has been hitting about 100F and by the time I get home the plants are wilting due to the pots drying out. I water every night due to this. This is the same plant after watering.
