dehydrators EXCALIBUR DEHYDRATORS 2400 PROBLEM?

Im really new to peppers and dehydrator I bought this one because it had good review and I don't know if its working properly

For a test I've put 10 cayenne on a tray (whole peppers) and its been on the vegetables settings for like 12 hours and it still like fresh. Is there something wrong? The interior do not seem really hot for 57 celcius ( but there is some heat and a airflow)

Thank you guys

Um... whole fresh peppers will never dry.

Cut peppers in half lengthwise and place on trays skin side down.

Excalibur is a sweet machine, nothing wrong with your purchase.

Good luck.

yea if peppers dried out with just the application of a little heat and air flow... they would not last more than a few days on the kitchen counter top.

be thankful they do not. that waxy cuticle on apples peppers pears gords etc, is natures shrink wrap.

perhaps small holes could be punched into the flesh, if you are looking for whole dried pods for ornimental stuff or w.e

like ry said. its not impossible... it just takes weeks to do.

i guessing the bulk of dried pods are done in ventilated barns, or in direct sunlight.

it wont.

when you make jerky, do you smoke it first? or do you just season meat?

i always wanted to learn to hunt, as venison jerky is insane.

season the meat.

Im hunting but not venison, deer and moose :)

All whole pods I see dried fail to retain the proper color and many times there can be mold on the inside. I tried that method many moons ago but now if for some strange reason I get asked for whole dried pods, I simply cut the top off to allow them to dry properly.

oh excuse my lack of knowledge, this isn't my first language so I didn't think the term venison was for a game animal meat. Though it was another animal.

It's all good. Venison is another term for deer meat in the U.S.

Now cut those pods in half and get to DRYING them peppers!!!

I takes A LONG TIME to dehydrate peppers.  My Nesco manual claims it takes 3-20 hours to dehydrate peppers.  This is completely wrong.  I split mine in half before dehydrating at 95f.  It takes a good 7 days to fully dehydrate.

I put around twenty whole Brown Morugas in my Nesco FD-80 Friday afternoon, and this morning (about fifty hours later) they are dry.

Cayennes usually take twelve to sixteen jours to dry.

Maybe there is something wrong with your dehydrator?
