A while back I watched a documentary about Automatons. The highlight of which was what I believe to be one of the most impressive feats of engineering and workmanship I have ever seen.

I hope you appreciate this as much as I did.

Wait, it gets better. Pierre Jaquet-Droz, his son Henri-Louis, and Jean-Frédéric Leschot in fact built three automaton dolls. The musician, the draughtsman and the writer.

There is also an Automaton swan designed by John Joseph Merlin which is a work of art in itself.
