Pimenta Elisir or Black Bhut Jolokia?

Hi, I've researched a lot through internet but I wish to know if the Pimenta Elisir and Black Bhut Jolokia are the same variety as they are both Bhut x Pimenta da Neyde cross.

thanks!

You might be looking at the same pepper types that have been grown out through differing phenotypes. One grower has probably followed down a path of Dark Bhut looking Pods another a more Pimenta style pod .. Someone decided to run with "Black Bhut" and cash in on its well known variety type and use that so sell the "new" colour. The other may have been another persons attempt at a rename for the purposes of marketing, possible not able to get that great bhut shape so stuck with a Pimenta name sake.

Calling it a " Pimenta Elisir "  Italians for " Pepper Elixir " may have been their own local way of merchandising a cross??? I don't know the history of the Elisir but I do know there are a lot of dedicated growers in Italy that love using Pimenta's in crosses.

I've never grown a Black Bhut before so I cant answer this, but do you know what Filial its at or if its a stable phenotype? There's also the chance that the Elisir has been back crossed to a parent Pimenta and the Black Bhut was back crossed to the parent bhut to emphasise those traits.

I am by no way a Guru and am just going on the small amount of forum surfing and research I have done looking into Pimenta da Neydes I have done myself and after reading this, and could be COMPLETELY wrong.
