Can of pickled peppers...

I propose a diary.

A thread for everything that happens daily in the life of chilli head, an outsiders perspective.

This is an open thread. Anything goes.

Did you eat a pepper, get high on endorphins and paint a unicorn? Sweet.

Did you chuck down a cube then a gusher? We want to know about it.

I am pretty boring myself, today I just went to work and bought some starts on the way home.
The seedling mix they were started in looks good, vermiculite, mushroom compost, compost, coir.

Anyway have fun in here! Mods come at their own leisure, we welcome authority.

Well,

Today I potted a few of my chillies in larger pots while the missus made room in the garden for a few of my larger ones. After that, I did a sauce review and pod tested a Trinidad Scorpion X Red Habanero. Good day! ;)

Yesterday: Repotted a couple of seedlings. Sprayed down a couple plants for aphids. Watching the pods burst out on my ghost. Started a bunch of seeds germinating. Went and picked up some perlite, potting mix, liquid iron ( for my lady's avocado ), repotted an avocado.

Today: Put adolescents habs out in the sun for a little while to get some exercise. Put the avocado to dry out because the floods have wrecked it. About to make myself bfast.

All while taking kids to school, picking up old lady, going to work etc.

Coffee.... That is all for now.

Maybe process some pods later today for the dehydrator. Will see where the day takes me.

It's gonna be wild!

Yesterday I woke up to a dentist appointment, picked fresh Thai chiles and sprinkled them on my lunch then finished my day in a tattooist's chair.

2 out of 3 of these painful experiences were by choice. Well, technically all 3 were by choice, but I enjoyed 2 of them.

Today I'll be on Pier 39, looking at Alcatraz, delivering to a hot sauce superstore. Will likely sample a 1/2 dozen sauces while there.

Life is good. ;)

Li86 oxygen is wot you need...

So, through an internet search of Li86, I have determined that my plant needs either a Lithium-ion battery, a 1986 Toyota Corolla or some tile. You Aussies grow plants weird.
In an unrelated (thankfully) story, I will be schlepping about 300lb of potted cacti inside today. I think the weather is finally at the point where it will no longer mimic that of the mountains of Peru. Also, I need to rotate some more OWs through my aphid fumigation gas chambers (garbage bags with No Pest Strips inside).

dash, did you document your fumigation chamber in another thread?  if not, hit me up.  :)  I have to prep 3 or 4 for the big move indoors.

I've touched on it on occasion, nothing formal though. It's really easy, really effective and probably won't kill you and your family! ;)
I always OW my container plants - it's so much easier than digging up plants, pruning/cleaning their roots, and pruning their foliage to match their pruned root balls. (LDHS ought to have a field day with that sentence…) Just pick up a HotShot No Pest Strip and set it on the soil's surface and tightly cover the plant and container with a durable garbage bag. (I use the 4 mil contractor bags so the branches can't poke holes.) Let it sit for a day or so, then open it and let the plant air out for a few minutes before bringing it inside.
I always inspect the foliage and soil carefully for anything I don't want to murder. (I found a bigass praying mantis in a biggerass scotch bonnet yesterday, so I convinced him to relocate to a different plant.) Then I give the foliage a good shake, just to be safe. I either do this outside, or with all the windows open on a windy day. Dichlorvos is not something you want to mess with. And for god's sake, hold your breath when you take the bag off the plant!
Dichlorvos is an organophosphate. Really, REALLY nasty stuff. Honestly, I don't know why this stuff is approved for indoor use. But it has it's place. I like it because it penetrates all the nooks and crannies of the foliage better than any spray or powder ever could. Plus, it leaves no residue - once the smell is gone, it's gone.

I don't know what this is, but it needs to be saved. Just in case of DPSE.

Well if they're cactsuses it's no wonder. Touch one and "ow!".

Thats what you meant right?
:D

pruned root balls
I had that once - went to the doctor, one shot and cleared it right up!

Well that certainly takes the adventure out of it.
