Oddball pepper I.D.?

I germinated two seeds from the same Trinidad Douglah packet. One grew true but something went haywire with this one. It was purplish from the start. Can't find anything like it so turning to you experts for help identifying it. Any ideas?

IMO it doesn't resemble a douglah at all so likely a seed mix-up somewhere along it's lifetime... I could be wrong

Agree with you totally, AZ-M. I'm new to peppers but there is no way to mistake this one for a Douglah. Thanks for replying.

Thanks, W3. I think you are right. Any idea what variety? Pods are approx. 2-2.5" and hot. Maybe habanero hot. Strange tasting thing. Bitter, complex, with an almost chemical tasting component, some floral and extremely lingering flavor. For whatever reason, I loved it. Sure like to know what it is.

It looks like an ornamental to me, and the way you describe the taste is exactly how some of those ornamentals can taste.. The purple prince from my sig looks similar, but the leaves on yours have a more rounded shape to them, where mine is more slender and pointy. Flowers and pepper pics might be needed to get a better ID. If you could post some flowers and pepper shots, that would be helpful in determining the variety. There are a number of purple leaved varieties out there.

EDIT:

The ornamental statement was based only on the seedling picture and description of taste.

The leaves look pubescent? Are all the flowers with that many petals? Is it producing double flowers per division?
The flower suggests it isn't a chinense at least. However if there is double flower per division then that makes it highly more likely that it is. If the leaves are pubescent it's probably not an annuum.

Leaves not what I think could generally be referred to as pubescent though there is some very slight pubescence down the midribs. Majority of flowers have six petals. If division means the same thing as node, then usually two or more flowers per node.

A species is easiest identified by its' flower. Based on those pictures it's either an annuum or a microcarpum. Given that it double flowers I guess it's an annuum crossed with a chinense.
Searching for something with it's characteristics turns up nothing.
I think it might be an accidental f1. Best way to know for sure is to ask the guy you bought it from. Try growing out the seed, if it's stable then it's already a cultivar.

No apology needed, danish. You taught me some things to look for. I looked extensively for something like it before posting and nothing quite matched. The seeds came from Semillas. The 20 seeds (10 varieties), I planted popped up super-fast and all but this one plant grew true. Excited to grow this one out next year. Thanks for the help.
