This looks like a fun project ...

I'm with Dash. It looks nice and all, but I prefer a ring no less than 3 feet in diameter and a leaf blower to stoke it up. ;)
 
I have one of those Weber grills. It's too small for a camp fire. Even if you are going for a small residential fire pit, it still needs to be able to hold a few standard sized 16" logs so maybe 24" minimum. At the campground where my camper is, they use semi trailer wheels with all the webbing cut out. That is about as small as I would want.

That's what my brother brings camping with him, as well. It's actually perfect size for a fire that's big enough to actually keep you warm.
 
Gotta admit, though... it doesn't have the aesthetics of the tree border idea. It's been floating around on social media for a couple of years
