Pepper Progress (With Pictures)

Hey Everyone,

I posted for the first time (several weeks ago) right before a heat wave hit the east coast. I finally wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions and recommendation for dealing with the heat. My plants made it through the 95-100 degree heat with no problems to speak of...although I think they did experience some flower drop.

My plants appear to be happy and healthy and well on their way to a big harvest! I have attached the links below to some photos of my plants. (Hope this works...first time posting pictures)

Thanks again!!

Thanks for the labels and WOW those plants are huge. I thought I was doing ok but DANG.

I've been blessed with almost ideal weather since the heat wave hit and the plants have responded accordingly. They have really taken off over the last couple of weeks...I can't believe how big some of them have gotten. I'm starting to wonder if some of my pots are going to end up being to small this season!

KJAM....when did your begin your plants to get to that state? We pretty much get similar weather so i'm curious. You have many pods and i have none. Just curious. I think i have pods coming now (finally), but none easily visible.

fineexample,

Yeah, I'm in northern Delaware (just south of Philadelphia) so our weather is generally the same.

I got my plants from a local nursery on May 10th. The plants were each between 3-5 inches tall. They were kept outside by day and kept inside at night until the beginning of June...then outside full time since then. They get full sun from approximately 10:00 to 6:00. They get water every couple days and fertilizer every 2-3 weeks.

Oh, I almost forgot...not sure if this effected the size of the plants, but I did pinch the buds off all of the plants for a couple weeks when they first appeared.

Hope that helps!

I just checked my calendar and that's about when i began mine as well. I'm guessing my noobness is the cause of my stunted growth and bloom. I was WAY overwatering, never pinched anything back, and generally was caring for these guys as if they were any other plant.

But cool though. I know what not to do next year and what i should do more of. :)

fineexampl...yes over watering is probably the most common mistake. It's really hard to under water a chili plant, but very easy to over water.

I'm not really sure why you don't have any pods yet...but I suspect they are all just around the corner.

I don't consider myself an expert by any means, but feel free to PM me if you have any more questions or want some more specific details regarding my growing habits.

i was looking at your hab. i don't see pods on it either. in fact it looks identical to mine even by size and shape. maybe i'm right on schedule. i'm running hab, choc hab, and 2 bhut j. I wonder if they just taking longer to fruit.
