Peppers on a plane?

Wondering if I can bring fresh pods on the plane or if TSA is going to take my shit? Anyone have any experience with this? I'm gonna try anyway and will report back.

It will probably depend on how many you take. If you are only taking a small amount I would just tell them you will be snacking on them during the flight. I would also bag some and stash them in any luggage you check. Never tried it, good luck!!

Checked luggage should be alright, but not so sure about carry on. They aren't liquids or gels though so that will help. The tsa website doesn't list solid foods specifically which seems to say it would be alright

Thanks for the input. That's what I was thinking, I should just check my bag rather than carry on. I know they say you can bring a small amount of food for immediate consumption carry on. Not sure if they'll believe I'm gonna eat a couple pounds of peppers on the flight, being the only food I'm bringing. Like I say I'll report back so we all know in the future.

no problem, and I've been dealing with some insomnia lately. I'm not enjoying it that's for sure.

Good for you!

If you are a grandmother, you can get away with a lot more. My mom managed to take almost 10 pounds of cheese as carry on. Still can't figure out how she managed that.

Don't try bringing fresh stuff on a plane that you have to go through customs,or food for that matter.
Especially from Peru to the U.S.

A friend regularly brought back market pods in a gal. jug filled with water with no problem.
Mom's Peru Rocoto,Aji mix of Pickled peppers.

Last trip she just put some pods and a couple munchies in her carry on luggage.
X ray machine was cool, walked right through.

Dogs at the gate alerted as she walked through(hungry for the Empanada her daughter put in the carry on).

Long story short,I guess drug dealers hide stuff and use food to try and trick customs.

They took her aside, strip searched her etc.
She is on the watched list now as a possible drug mule.
They saw she goes home to visit 2 times + a year...they put 2 and 1 together and got 4.

They for some reason let her keep my seeds but took everything else pepper and food wise.

I'd suggest bringing in dry pods interstate rather than fresh or just seeds.
Dep. of Ag. probably could mess with you if they want to-some guy is having a bad day.

I hear that the states that have legal pot are starting to cause more searches if you are coming from the wrong state and a dog alerts.

I've been told,if they consider something as processed it's OK,interstate or otherwise.

Like a jug full of water with pods in it.OR dry pods.

They think the ones in the water are pickled...
No hazard to Agriculture.
I'd guess a couple hours in water would kill any bugs in the pods anyway.

Surprising. No liquids of any kind are allowed on any flights now days carry on or other wise.

Guess I could take some rare and controlled pepper seeds and bury them under my finger nails. then they would be painfully valuable.

I've heard you can check liquids, even alcohol. Produce might be another story though. If it's just seeds you want maybe you could keep the seeds in a bottle of water and call it some kind of pepper infused water. The seeds should be fine for the few hours they'd be in the water
