My vintage coffee percolator.

This thing was just a pain to use and clean but it did brew a good cup of coffee.

rarely, as I'm more chill and mate is aggressive in its effects on me.  If you like coffee - mate is like strong coffee in my experience.  but smoother.

In El Salvador, they actually drink a coffee like beverage but made of roasted corn kernels. I thought it was interesting they call it cafe de maiz (corn coffee) Might have to try this one day.

Sounds like my kind of tea! Heard mate was more popular than coffee in South America and is considered a "super-food".

I also dabble in loose leaf ;) ...

so, tEa was my thing before coffee became my thing.

I'm enjoy the yunnan/monkey style most broadly, but my all time fav tea by a mile is dan cong oolong ...

Someday I'll order from Imen ...

Nice links GM!  You had me at oolong.  Much obliged. I also dig another local chicago outfit called metropolis.  And I'm not a 'coffee guy' and I'm not into how 'cool' everyone is who goes there, but either place it's a damn fine cuppa joe.

Yeah, so, I get that ... which is why I order in instead of going to the haute local place.

Totally get that.

There's another cool place there, Gaslight. They roasted the beans that came w/ the Manual as a Kickstarter reward ...

They were very, very good.

Ever been to Butcher & Larder? ... a guy I follow on Twitter posts rad shit from there ;)

I'm trying to figure out where my percolator is, I think Danielle might have 'stored' it.

The thing I like about the percolator is the smell throughout the house, in particular.

I have to replace the cord. The old one sparked something major and I dare not plug it in. It was the cloth looking type of cord. I think I found a replacement though. I'll see if I can get it and hopefully get it up and running again.

So Thats what goes on inside a percolator.

I'm not sure. I know I have to polish it every now an then. It's a M&B (Means Best) made by Manning Bowman and Co. in Meridan, Conn.

I dont see anything on it saying it is so I have to assume its not. But thing sure scratches easy. Have to use like a real soft polishing cloth.

A silver stamp shouldn't be that hard to find so its probably chrome plated like many others I see for sale but I'll keep looking.

It could be nickel plated as well but it looks to be from the 20's
