Cappy's 2015 Chocolate BS

It has been several year since I have started a grow log like a newb but I enjoy this time of year starting plants.  My name is Cappy and I first discovered the Seven Pod in a seed trade from Sara R. in Trinidad in 2008.  That year I had a grow log and documented my grow of an extra brainy seven pod and the Brain Strain 7 Pod was born.  Since that time I have shared seeds with anybody and everybody who asked for little more than the cost of shipping.  I did not try to profit or chase the world hottest title, that goes to CARDI and the creator of the seven pod.  I am just a grower of limited means with a closet with a grow light and a backyard in a residential neighborhood.  What I am is proud of my contribution to the pepper community and the opportunity to shared this pepper with the rest of the world.

Last year I received some seeds from a very generous Trinidadian friend here in the states by the name of Judy.  I have dreams on making a chocolate version of my yearly hot sauce BrAiN sTrAiN.  There have been both red and yellow versions in the past so 2015 will be the year of the chocolate BS.  First round of seeds were sown last weekend January 4 and today I have my first seedling so here we go!

Congrats to our three winners, Scorched, Seacowboy, and Guatemalan Insanity Pepper.  Happy Father's Day to all but now on to the special Powerball round made available only to these three from round one, the winner of this final round wins a grand prize of a sfrb of Chocolate Brain Strain 7 Pod shipped free of charge.  Here's the question....Name my favorite collegiate football team, our last three bowl wins came against perennial powerhouses LSU, Ohio St. and Oklahoma.  Name the team here first and you get the box of heat along with your seeds.. Please only these three are allowed to answer, good luck!

Nice looking grow Cappy. You said that you were growing in 4 gallon pots.I was wondering how often you have to water? Also do you have any problems with your pots tipping over due to wind or the plants getting top heavy? I have been thinking about growing in pots the last couple of years, but have been concerned about the pots drying out and be blown over by the hot Kansas winds.  I have also been thinking about drip irrigation. What are your thoughts on that?

Thanks for your time

Holy crap! I can't believe I won. It took me three hours of research to figure it out and I still wasn't sure the answer was right. I thought for sure someone was going to win it before me. For the prize though it was worth every damn minute. The rare unreleased true chocolate brain strains grown by the creator of the brain strain himself?? Man that prize is freaking priceless. I'll even admit that I did a victory dance once I found out I won. The seed win was awesome but to be able to actually taste one of these babies Oh man oh man is that sweet. I'm sure it will melt my face off and I'll love every minute of it. Thanks so much for the contest Cappy! Freaking awesome prizes! The pod porn you posted of those beauties had me drooling. I'm still riding a bit of a high from the win. Still can't believe it lol. Thank you again

Guess who is really regretting he didn't read this thread until today.......<- this guy! Great looking pods Cappy. The plant I'm growing from your seeds is starting to look great. I posted a video, if you get a chance, take a look. One of my best looking plants. I have the first pod showing and there's no denying it's one of your babies! Keep those updates coming!

I am watering twice a day if they need it but try to give them one good soaking if I can get away with it and let them dry out at night.  If you notice I never move my plants once they are planted and they grow roots out the bottom of the pots and anchor themselves and don't blow over.  I don't use drip irrigation, but I do water my plants from a reservoir using a sump pump connected to a hose.

You won fair and square and you deserve to be excited! I saw you on the thread for a few hours and was wondering why you didn't just google it.  I will reply with tracking # tomorrow morning.  Please do me a favor and don't trade all the seeds from these pods because I will be selling seed packets for 7 dollars and sfrb of CBS pods for 21 to anybody who would like to try for themselves.  Thanks Tony!

Very glad to hear you are happy with you genetics and the time and effort you put in to growing your plants it's what you expected.  I am growing CBS as my only pepper plants this season to improve the chances it growing true in the next generation.  Much more to come...

No worries Cappy. Wasn't planning on trading or giving away any seeds at all since it's still unreleased. All seeds I collect will be stored for my personal use and maybe for a trade here and there later down the line. Awesome to hear you will be selling both seeds and boxes of pods. I'm sure I'll probably buy at least another box once others have had a chance to try these beauties. Love the original brain strain so I'm sure these are just as amazing.

Google was definitely my friend for this contest. I stayed in the thread constantly refreshing it to see if anyone had won lol.

Thanks again

Those CBS plants have tripled in size since the last visit-incredible.
Nice Busse...do I see damascus there?

I'm just guessing here ....assuming the pods will get the reddish tinge to the placenta like Brown 7's if allowed to ripen a bit more? I will be taking you up on the seeds and SFRB,  with a time delay as always.
PM headed your way.

Thank Dave!

The pods definitely turn darker the more ripe they get put I am picking them as soon as all the green is gone from the tops.  This mornings harvest shows some of the different shades of brown with different degrees of ripeness.  For everybody that got tracking numbers this morning these are your pods! Yup that small Busse is a Magnum Bear Cub and my camp knife in this picture is an Busse Industrial Grade ASH-1 my two grail knives.  No Damascus in my collection yet.  Hope everybody has a great weekend!

I cut up and deseeded my box of pods and some of the larger pods had reddish brown "veins" running through the placenta. Some of them had massive placentas. I should have taken pics but had oil all over my gloves and didn't feel like going through the process of removing gloves to take a pic and then double gloving again.

The flavor on these is just fantastic. I can't decide if I like these more than the original red. Very close. Brain Strains are one of my top 3 favs. I guess I like 7 pot in general since BBG is another in my top favs. Still need to try yellow and orange but I have them growing this year so won't be long.

I can't wait to try the chocolate version of your awesomesauce Cappy.

Oh and great looking knife man!
