I have two rather large (6 feet) pink Angel's Trumpet that started off as cuttings two years ago. They grow really fast over the summer and have to be brought in for the winter here in zone 6B. They pout until they go back out in the springtime. Beautiful heady flowers that are an attraction to people walking by, they brighten any dapple sunny and sunny areas.
This year I decided to try growing the purple ones, but no one around my area ever grows them for sale. I got the Parks Seed Co. catalog and saw Ballerina Purple and ordered some seeds. Soaked in camomile tea then planted in organic soil, they came up in one week! Was really surprised it germinated so quickly when some say up to months to germinate. Now, they just don't seem to grow fast at all. Lighting is 4 inches away, fertilize with liquid seaweed, and moderate watering, and 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
Anyone ever tried growing from seed? Any luck getting flowers in one growing season from seed?
