Celebrity experiences

So I got to talking with a friend about experiences we've had with meeting celebrities and I thought I'd pose the question here. Most I've met were pretty down to earth and didn't play the "Do you know who I am?" card.

Anyone met any celebrities and what was your experience with them?

Brian Fair (Shadows Fall) - Probably one of the coolest people I've ever met. I met him at a Shadows Fall concert at Alrosa Villa in Columbus (the place where Dimebag was murdered). It was an all day event and when he wasn't helping the opening bands set up for their sets, he was down mingling with the crowd. Not at all what I expected. He was very appreciative of his fans and guys he shared the stage with. For every drink that was bought for him, he bought two for whoever he was hanging with at the time.

Paul Romanko (Shadows Fall) - Jerk. I bought my wife an autographed drum stick from him at their merch booth and he just threw it on the table and demanded money.

Ted Nugent - Seriously nice guy, if you understand how to speak Nuge.

Mikael Akerfeldt (Opeth) - Complete asshat and very rude to everyone! I lost a lot of respect for him last time we saw him.

Martin Mendez (Opeth) - Completely strung out and a dick to his fans.

Stevie Benton (Drowning Pool) - Nice guy, bit a bunch of guitar picks and give them to us just to be nice.

Tiny Tim - Anyone remember him? We sat next to him at Ringling Brothers Circus when we were kids. He bought a bunch of candy and popcorn and shared it with us. I didn't know who he was at the time, but I remember he was very nice to us.

Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) - We exchanged a few rather harsh words during a concert when he picked a fight with a member of the crowd during the first song before storming off stage for 20 minutes. No wonder Metallica kicked him out.

Ian Patrella - I guess he didn't really do a whole lot besides play Randy is A Christmas Story. He was the tour guide at A Christmas Story House in Cleveland. Very polite and patient with my sister (The biggest and most annoying A Christmas Story fanatic).

Ron Jeremy - Ah yes, the infamous Hedgehog. I've met him twice, actually. First time was at a promotion deal for a movie called Pirates at an adult noveltry store in Fairbanks. I was good friends with one of the workers so I got to hang out with most of the adult starts that were there. Ron treated all the stars and celebrities, especially the women, like trash. He obviously hadn't bathed in a week or more, either. Then a day or so later we left on a flight to Las Vegas from Fairbanks and we sat next to him on the plane. Again, still hadn't bathed and was very rude to the poor flight crew. One thing that stuck out for me was the fact that his "luggage" was nothing more than black trash bags with duct tape around them. If I can afford a suitcase, I'm sure he could have too. Pretty cheap. I never understood the appeal of him, anyways. He isn't THAT gifted, at least not enough to make up for how disgusting he is.

So my little heatseekers, any of yall got any stories of meeting celebrities worth mentioning, be it good or bad or funny or whatever?

I worked Jazz Fest one year in the Ray Ban booth, selling sunglasses, of course. John Goodman walks up to the booth and asks me "Do you guys have flip ups?" I said "No sir, we just have Ray Bans".... He muttered "f**k...." and walked away.

And I just remembered the name of the band I met the singer for.... Diecast. Shook his hand after a show and bought him a beer.

And I met Kurt from Crowbar one time. I used to work at Winn Dixie with a guy (Tony Savoie) who was the brother of one of their friends (Mike Savoie)... we were hanging out at Mike's house one day, and Kurt was there and gave me a Crowbar poster. This was after they released their first album (Obedience Through Suffering). So we watched a VHS tape of Crowbar practicing in Mike's garage, and on the video, Phil Anselmo walked in and started jamming with Crowbar. Never got to meet Phil, but I did get to stand where he stood in the garage :D \m/

No TV or movie Celebs but I have met some of the bigger names in PBR (Professional Bull Riders).

Flint Rasmussen (entertainer)
Mike Lee
Silvano Alves
J.B. Mauney
Tanner Byrne
Cody Nance
Matt Triplett
LJ Jenkins

We won seats in the "shark cage" (seats in the arena where the chutes are) last summer. A bull smashed into where we were sitting breaking the cage that kept us safe. We had to leave, but not before meeting everyone and having an interview with Flint on CBS Sports after the fact.

Most down to earth people you could meet. Coolest experience...

I used to always sit by the chutes when I went to rodeos as a kid. Those guys are nuts getting on those broncos and bulls!

My favorite part of the rodeos were the kids riding sheep. You always had the kids that would cry in the middle of the arena, but there was always that one little kid who was a beast and would ride the sheep until the adults caught the sheep pryed him off, usually after sliding under the sheep and still hanging on for dear life.

Working for a big Pool company in the Chicago area I've met quite a few "celebrities"

Napeleon harris for the raiders. Ghetto as fck. Hated going to that house. Built a big pool for him, never could collect money. Always fighting to get a check from them.

R.Kellys shark tank. Never actually ran into him good thing too

David from Disturbed came in looking about building a pool. Girl at front counter fan girled so hard they ended up leaving.

Some dude that played bball for Italian Olympic team. Can't remember his name any more. Wife and daughter was hotter than hell for black chicks.

I'm sure there's more that I don't remember. I'm antisocial and don't get star struck so most them don't stand out in my mind.

I don't get the whole fan boy/fan girl, star struck deal, either. My sister on the other hand, will (and has) flipped complete schtick over meeting a celebrity. She has to tell them how amazing they are and touch them, etc. I'd rather approach them like a normal human being because to me, simply being an actor/musician/athlete isn't some nobel pursuit.

Thanks homie.

The best I could do that most on here would know is Mudvayne. All were extremely cool to deal with, but Ryan (the bassist) especially was probably one of the nicest dudes I've met.
Met a bunch of different NRL players back home before moving. Only had one or 2 complete dicks. Most were great to deal with, and some were downright awesome to hang out with.
