Are notifications to subscribed threads in Hot Topics tied to having put the PW in?
 

Because I swear that I have gotten notified to responses in threads there, but a lot of times I dont. The only reason I can think of is that every time we log out of the site we also get logged out of Hot Topics and the notifications stop.
 
Yes because that would be a permission. You don't have permission to view until the password is entered so it will not notify you.
 
Is there no way around that because its annoying to people who want notifications and people who dont can already manually unsubscribe.
 
Or did I stumble upon what was once a quiet way of keeping activity there to a minimum? /conspiracy
 
It behaves as the software maker intended. I'm not even sure I am correct. Check your spam folder.

The original question, them being tied together, to which you said yes, is what I'm asking if there is a way around.

Prolly efed up PM I sent him this mornin'.
 
I also think once you log out you never get notified if that thread is ever posted in again. Effectively unsubscribing you. But only in Hot Topics.

Post a test in there and subscribe and log out of hot topics and I will reply. Let's see what happens. 
 
I just checked and nothing. but I dont know the last time anyone replied either.

So i made the thread. Im logging out...again. =/

Still having to put in the PW every time to get notifications for subscriptions we already have just seems backwards.
 
And believe it or not I'm not the only person to have complained about it. Just none of us knew why before.
 
You said you got the test logged out. So it worked.
