Looks very similar to a Thai plant I grow...actually yours do not seem to have purple on the outside of the flower as you stated from what I can see now in the pictures.

the flowers look similar to those in your picture, but they have a faint purple color. noticed that i posted a really bad picture since its to bright.

No clue on ID but love the ones that reach for the sky.  So perty.

The size and shape is right, but as for the color of the pods, leaves and flowers I would say that it is most likely cross.
Its still a nice plant, the ripe pods will turn deep red with maybe some purple hue's on it.
If it taste ok to you I would keep it, as it is a nice looking plant.

They look like Goat's weed to me.

Not Goat's Weed.  Foliage too glossy and it's green - GW is greyish.
