looking for info on a grow room in my basement :)

Hey guys I'm pretty new to growing peppers but I have some now in a container system (5 gallon bucket type) and are doing great! Mainly thanks to thp! Anyways I started late this year and I'm looking to start earlier this coming winter in my unfinished basement.. have outlets and plan on getting the long fluorescent lights and doing maybe a shelf system for starting seeds then possibly a bigger area for when they start getting bigger. Was looking for maybe some pictures of ideas of something that I can do... not looking to spend abunch of money either. The idea I'm on right now is using a double layer of painters plastic around a basic structure that comes down from the ceiling to the floor.. making sure it's completely sealed.. then making a door of somesort... with a small heater and fan... maybe dehumidifier?... Also interested in starting some purple jalepenos for sure and definitley interested in one's that you can't find at a store.. any information will help and hopefully I can start seeds for others around my area!.. lived doing it this past year but started pretty late

only need to be room temp , no need for heater unless your basement is cold . you can buy mylar really cheap , this will help reflect as much light back to your plants . but what juanitos said will work great also .     :onfire:

Why do you want to seal it up?  Yes, it is a good idea to bounce light back off a flat white surface but I dont think you are describing enough light that doing so would be a great benefit.

Why heat the thing?  Most folk have the other problem, cooling.

I read the pot forums and books because they have some of the most advanced idea.  Thing is, a lot of what they do is for secrecy.  Seal it up so the smell does not escape, then you need major ventilation, charcoal filters, and so on.  Also being all sealed up adds to humidity problems.

Although I do have a fairly large grow room, I am moving the other direction for expansion.  Putting peppers plants in other parts of the house, out in the open, and using the light to help light the room. Give it a thought.  Makes for more contact with your plants and less of a feeling like you got a chore to do in the basement.
