In the growing threads you have a "Growing - Other" category, so it's not entirely off-site to have something like "BBQ - Other" here in this forum. However, I can see that some people who aren't into hot peppers might not find the thread(s). If your goal is to expand total visibility, then I like the idea of a new forum with a seamless link here, but also a seamless link there to here. Some people who are into hot peppers and don't know about this site might then find it, etc. (C'mon guys, you KNOW there are peeps out there who don't know about THP!) So I guess my question back to you is what is your overall goal in creating these new things? That goal, IMO, should drive your action.
Yes geeme. This is a hot pepper site that encompasses many things, interests that most pepperheads have. But the first attraction is hot peppers. So when one is searching for a cool BBQ or beer site they may not find this, or if they do, may know now it is here.
With cross-promotion through menu links and possible RSS feed sideboxes a person looking to talk Q could find the BBQ site and may also be into hot peppers, so then s/he would see THP. A tightly integrated community of three of our major interests here.
Same with homebrew. The reason homebrew will be its own site is it is very extensive, and also not related to hot peppers except a few beers lol. BBQ with rubs and sauces is usually always tied to the spicy, even if mild. We just happen to like beer.
You see how it can work to build THP bigger as well. By those people finding the sister site first and then coming here.
So you hit the nail on the head about people that don't know about THP. But I do like asking the members and appreciate the answers, they will help me decide, I've always been on the fence on this one. Thanks!
