I used vodka in my airlock recently and the krausen blew it out in my ferm chamber and it smelled terrible.
 
Get yourself some StarSan ...

I've used brine, vodka, and moonshine pretty interchangeably.

Yes, Vodka.

Star San to clean and sanitize everything like air locks, bottles, caps, etc.

Idaphore will also work.....I use it, vodka, and starsans (whatever I grab first).
