tried to scale back on varieties :(

I was planning on cutting back on a lot of varieties and focus more on the ones that i really love. I visited Judy's website the other night and couldn't resist. My wheels on my shopping cart almost fell off!! here we go again!!

am i the only one? with all the new stuff coming out isn't it only natural to have to try growing them? hahaha

i mean the first super hots i ever grew were boring ole ghost peppers but i just can't seem to part with an OG

I'm glad I'm a cheapskate.
Still, I planted about 20+ Moruga seeds, had 15 seedlings survive and gave away 11 of them.
7 + 4 = 11 plants in total now inside using the ghetto sun.
I couldn't resist planting superhot seed.

I can relate 100% to the intentions of cutting back, but have accepted it's just not gonna happen.

I've had years of plenty varieties and some years concerating on only a couple of varieties. I'm really into bird peppers -raising Zimbabwe bird peppers this year. Ya know with your weather you could probably make a tree out of a Texas bird...LOL . Still remember when habanero's first came out at the feed and seed store(60's). Beg my dad cause I wanted the latest thing. Next year I'm planning on raising habanero de arbol. I'm still a sucker for habanero.

Next season I will focus on Baccutums and varieties of chocolate peppers .

the only varieties i have been able to discontinue without regret was my yellow ghost and orange hab. haha good riddance!! but minus 2 plus 20 was the outcome. :drooling:

saving seeds in Hawaii can be challenging with all the humidity and mold so i always feel like i need a few of each to be planted at all times

judys chocolate bhutlahs , very good flavor /heat ! i got 9 plants this year , going with 15 , 5 of her s.s. peach BHUTS got 7 this year and mu usual jays peach scorp./ghost . but the bhutlahs are worth growing . :onfire:

I will have to score some of her seeds for the choc bhut. I'm going for flavor over heat now and bhuts and up on the scoville are an added bonus.

I was going to scale back after last years 100 plant season. Failed. This year have almost 200.

Well, since I know where you live now, I was planning on leaving a few garbage bags full on your front yard someday. Well, i been loosing a lot lately to bugs and caterpillars and weather, but still looking rediculous. I got about 200 in the kitchen now, I need to do something with. Someone needs to knock some sense into me. Powders and freeze a bunch and start learning to make sauces this winter. Lots of giveaways. Some of the ones I don't like or the crap crosses will make racoon deterrent for next year. Might try to sell a few. Biggest problem is the time to do all this stuff.

know what you mean , this has been my worse grow year , to cold wet , now bugs , caterpillar damage ! just awful .

I am just like you LOL.

I wanted about 10 different species but I ended up having almost 100 :shh:

I have caught the pepper bug pretty bad too. I don't have the numbers you guys do, but I can't stop myself from picking up a few extra plants from Lowes and I just ordered five different types of seed online yesterday and I'm gonna start growing a few even though growing season will be over in a few months. Guess I'm going to learn more about growing indoors and overwintering :party:

Yeah you gotta go to some extremes sometimes to keep seeds viable. Save all those dessicant packs from vitamin bottles and whatever. Put them on a tray in the oven at 200 degrees for a couple hours. Let them cool down in a mason jar to keep humidity away. Once cool, drop in your seed packets and seal tight and hide away in a cool dark place. Works better than tossing them in your sock drawer.
