Flattery will get you everywhere...

Most of our money business had been online this year out of necessity.  The move in that direction was necessary because I could not imagine being able to pack, unpack, sell, pack, and unpack over and over at various markets.  For a time, I thought I would really miss going to market.  Thing is, I find myself with much more time to do what I love... grow things, raise critters, spray my kids down with the garden hose randomly.

The one thing I really did miss was trading with other folk at the market.  Especially at the end of a Sunday when folk know things wont keep till next weekend.  We might be back to a normal market routine next season, but something really special has been happening that gives me that fix for trading and spending time with like minded folk.  We traded some produce with customers turned friends.  No cash.  Just produce trading.  I think I got the better of the deal.  They think they got the better of the deal.

I think that's how trading produce tends to go cause you are trading off your excess and taking in what you did not grow much of.  Our zucchini and squash did horribly this year.  It was dry when it needed to be wet and wet when it needed to be dry.  Now we are stocked up on both.

To my surprise, they blogged about it - Click here for the article

So it got me to thinking.  I have traded seeds and even plants with folk here.  Are folk interested in trading peppers?  Do you think there would be enough interest to bother asking THP for a trade / barter forum kin to the classified forum?  A place where money was off limits?

The marketplace forum is already "buy, sell, trade", so no. Lots of trading already going on...
Now that you pointed that out, I see that.  Thing is, it took you pointing it out for me to notice because there are about zero offers to trade in there.  Maybe what I should be asking is if folk would be interested in changing that.

A lot of trading happens there, but it's mostly for seeds. Not so much for produce. I have traded boxes of pods a few times, goodies for goodies, and so on, but mostly via private message. I say start by posting up an ad and see what happens. It certainly can't hurt...

A few people have shown an interest in doing it this fall.  Starting to think of the seed train thing, only individual stops.  There is another name for it, not really a train.  Offices do it for the holidays.  I give to you, you give to the next person, the next person gives to the next person and so on.  No memory.
