shopping Manzano from local store

Do you think the seeds will be good on this pepper from Mexico ? Look at the label. Thanks !

     Tough call. Irradiation is done to kill microbes, but I don't know if it kills pepper cells. You would think not, otherwise the fruit would probably turn to mush and rot (colonized by microbes in the environment). 
     I think (could be wrong) the radiation they use doesn't penetrate very far, so seeds might be OK. Just toss a few in paper towels. Since they're fresh they'll germinate pretty quick if they are viable.

Give it a try but remember that you have no idea whether the farmer grew these close to other types of Chile's, so the result may be a cross.

Pubes don't cross with other species for the most part. If its crossed its crossed with another Manzano.
 
Uv irradiation is normally used, this doesn't penetratie very far. In fact UV radiation directly on seeds or pollen is used in science for mutagenesis. Although the DNA changes are less 'nice' than with chemical (EMS) mutagenesis.
