Ok don't want to sound like some cranky old man!!!!! But just had a group of neighborhood kids checking out my garden and citrus trees. My lime tree has tons of fruit but very small still size of marble had 4 limes that were golf ball size perfect, talking to the kids they ask about the lime trees constantly. They want a couple for their mom. Told them soon as there ready I will give them each one. They were eating some cherry tomatoes with me they know not to take without asking!!! Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm kids took my limes all 4 big ones just can't stand it!!!! So good to the children in my area just frustrated!!!!
No freaken respect!! Lots of time and money in these dam trees!!

We used to pluck citrus fruit from the trees and drink out of peoples outside spigots all across the island growing up ...
 
It's so hot here, that it was the only way to stay hydrated to be able to ride around on our bike's all day on a weekend day ...
 
It never even occurred to any of us that someone might have been watching their fruit ripen, that we picked ...
 
Those full day biking around the island are some of my fondest childhood memories, so it's bizarre to see them retold from the other side, as painful stories ...
 
Sorry about your loss of limes ... I don't think it's personal, though ... or willful disrespect.
 
It's probably just kids being kids.
 
And yeah, I know the feeling, as someone stole my ripening tomatoes a few years ago on the regular ...
 
I thought it was a racoon, but it was happening during the day.

Yeah I hear what your saying Grant and I often picked apples from my neighbor's trees growing up but never from a small grower. And pool hoped all summer long but as Hybrid Mode 01 pointed out they are constantly asking to pick some and have been told when there ready!! I mean I just mentioned it to them turned around and they were leaving walked over to tree and gone!!!
I love kids but my patience is at an end this year!!!

You can buy bobcat urine as a rodent deterrent, and that shit stinks ... mix a little bit of that in there for good measure, then their mom/dad will be pissed, and might look into shit ...
