Slipknot @ Red Rocks Amphitheater 08-19-2015

Just got back last night from a Slipknot, Lamb Of God, Bullet For My Valentine and Motionless In White concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. Hands down the most amazing venue I've ever seen. The view waiting in line to get in was out of this world as well. It is up in the mountains just west of Denver and you're standing beneath these monolithic red rocks with the Denver metro area, skyscrapers and all, laid out in front of you. The show was off the hook! Best concert I've ever been to. My only souvenir is a guitar pick I caught from Ricky Horror from Motionless In White. Although it looks like they were using fog machines in the pics/videos... That was actually pot smoke! I think we were only people in the audience that weren't toking up. Welcome to Colorado!

Glad you enjoyed the concert and the geography.

Red Rocks is a beautiful place for a concert as well as hiking, etc. My friend works concerts there, selling food.  She said she loved the music and the people attending loved it, too.

Sic, when you saw them, did Lamb Of God use way too much lighting pointing directly at your face? That was my only gripe about the entire show. I couldn't see LoG during 95% of their show due to being blinded by excessive lighting directed right into our eyes.

I do know what you mean. I took one pic of each band then rocked out. My LOG pic is a complete blur, but i seen them fine watching. Maybe because of our diffrent angles of seeing them? I also think maybe it was because of the time of the evening they went on?  Looks like we were about the same distance from the stage,You even closer. Looks like you were floor? I was seats right above floor watchin the crazies in the pit, lol.

It was all mezzanine seating. No floor area besides the very front where the handicapped parked their chairs/photographer area, so that was nice. I was generally in row 4, which was maybe 20 odd feet from the stage. Sometimes the drunks next to me would start pitting (who starts a pit in the bleachers?!) and we would migrate down to rows 2-3 until security would break it up. I got caught up in the bleacher pit once when Shawn Crahan came out into the audience. I fell down to the next level right on top of him! He is just a little guy, barely up to my chin.

It must have just been where we were because it the lighting was brutal. I bet halfway up the venue it wasn't as bad. I'll tell ya, they sounded GOOD!!! Very well mixed and played exceptionally clean. I forget who they said the sound guy was for the show, but he was some big shot special guest there. Wish all sound guys could do what he did.
Ok, since I mentioned the handicapped folks, am I a bad person for wanting to pick them up in their chairs and have them go crowd surfing?

Yeah, I could see if you were sitting around level with those strobes being a problem.
My seats a few days ago were about 6 rows behind the pit, but the stage was up higher than the seats compared to where you were, and they still kicked my ass.
Hell of a show though.

Btw... LoG will be on Jimmy Kimmel Live next Thursday

LoG is a favorite, seen em 4 or 5 times. Slipknot I don't find myself listening too a lot but their live shows are awesome, it's really a "show" and not just a band playing there songs, the energy they can create is insane. I'll be sure to make it to knotfest.
