What's worst thing about being a chilehead?

Just want to have some fun and hear what the worst thing about being a chilehead is.

To me the worst thing is that I am lactose intolerant. Meaning I cant have dairy products so if a pepper burns I can't do anything about it!

Having people bitch that everything you cook is too spicy even though you think you made it really mild...
I cant hit the like button enough. I've gotten to the point where I have my daughter try it she has a lesser tolerance although its building. My sister is a PIA to make anything for ANY spice waved over the top is to HOT. WTH!!

Try living in Pennsylvania Dutch country where black pepper is considered spicy by most people over 40. Geesh. I make chili for the club and use chili powder and fresh jalapenos and inevitably three or four people will act like I dumped a whole bottle of Pure Evil or Blair's 3am in it. C'mon man, its chili, it is supposed to be hot. I mean don't eat ice cream and complain that it is cold do you?

I go to PA Dutch for the Apple head doll   CREEEEPY  don't go that way all that often but that damn doll is something else

I recently moved away from the world's largest Amish settlement (Holmes County, OH) and you are correct. Actually, I am at the airport right now to fly back there for a few days.

Not being able to eat at lunch because you might get expelled. Second worst is capsiacin getting in places you don't want it to.Half an hour sitting in cold water. Never again.

Having people question your taste in everything because you happen to enjoy spicy food.

"This book's really good!"

"Yeah, well you said that Thai restaurant was really good too and it burned my face off"

Yea, having people question your source of daily dietary fiber just because you like spices would suck.   (xoxo)

Definitley have to go with the " try this, it's not that hot...TRUST ME!"    I had tons of fun with that line with my little Bro-in-law for years while developing products.  He'd occasionaly complain about the flaming arse, unfortunately he may not have an arse to complain about for much longer.  :(  But now, the family are all medium-heat chileheads, but they still don't trust me.  The kid will get every FlamingChitoDoritoCrackerBurger that we see and usually says..."Meh..It's not that hot"  {Music to my ears!!!}.  But he still says he doesn't like spicy foods!

Another PITA is having to separate dinner cooking, or cook in sections to accomodate everyones heat levels.  Usually I can make the main dish as a mild/medium, serve out the first couple plates, then add more heat.  It's still a PITA, and not everything lends itself to this kind of segregation.

For me, the worst part is not getting to relive the experience of knowing what "spicy" means to people who aren't into seriously hot food. I can't have a dish spiced with habanero and comiserate with my friends as to what it felt like because I don't feel what they feel. I'll never again be able to say with a straight face that serrano peppers are hot. I can't relate to my peer group in regards to food because our experiences are so wildly different that even if a close friend and I eat the same thing, it's like we're eating two completely different dishes.
