Spicegeist 2016 (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yes, I said I was going to scale back to maybe even nothing.  But, this is just not going to happen.  I love peppers, love growing them, watching other people grow them, developing new crosses, eating them, talking about them, and yes, I even enjoy some drama from time to time ;)

Here's my tentative grow list for 2016:

C. annuum
Chiltepin x C. galapagoense
Brown Chiltepin
Yellow Chiltepin
Chiltepin Tarahumara
[[Chiltepin x Chintexle] x C. galapagoense] x Negro de Valle
[[Chiltepin x Chintexle] x C. galapagoense] x Chiltepin
Chimayo (two different seed sources)

C. frutescens
Donne Sali
CGN 17020

C. chinense
Smooth Brown Bhut
Bumpy Brown Bhut
Red Bhut
Naga Suomi
Naga Suomi x [Choco Bhut x Douglah] F2
Pink Tiger
Pimenta da Neyde
Red Bhut x Choco Bhut
Naga King

[Bhut x Seven Pod Moruga] x Guwahati Bhut F2
[[Bhut x Seven Pod Moruga] x Guwahati Bhut F1] x Choco Bhut
Assam Bhut x [[Bhut x Seven Pod Moruga] x Guwahati Bhut F1]
Impact Bhut
Naga Suomi x Pimenta da Neyde F1
Scotch Bonnet M of A

That looks like a manageable list.  I don't want to go too crazy next year.  You are growing the Donne Sali.  I ordered Big Donni Sali from Puckerbutt, and then I noticed
they had another smaller Donni Sali.  I was hoping to have the original one, but don't know if I ordered the right one.

getting an early start i see.  I won't be starting till first week of the year.

Yeah, I do this to see how readily the different varieties germinate.  There are a few that I am quite eager to grow, so if they don't germinate this time around, I still have time to start a new batch.

Brown and yellow chiltepin? The endtimes are aprpoaching :-D

Seriously, it's the first time I hear about these two, can you share some info? Are you growing a natural variation or are those someone's hybrid?

Some of the varieties have come up, but a lot haven't too:

My Pink Tigers all came up very fast.  These are the first generation of my attempt to improve this variety, so far so good :)

All five of the GuwaX (that's what I call my [Bhut x Seven Pod Moruga] x Guwahati Bhut F2) I'm starting came up, they also want to grow:

Most of my Chiltepin x C. galapagoense came up too, so I'm not sure why the people I shared it with last year couldn't get it to grow

As of today, the varieties in bold have germinated, those in red have not:

Looking good Charles! No alligator bhut?

Good memory :)  You know, that didn't turn out that great.  Once I got it outside and put it in a larger pot it just slowly produced smallish bhuts.  I'm growing other bhuts that I think are better.

Chiltepin selection!! Lovely.  :P

As regards the Chiltepin- there was a short sale on Facebook going on with proceeds going towards Christopher Phillips that was for the 'traditional' red, but also included a yellow ‘Amarillo’ and 'Cappuccino' (brown) varietal(s). Beautiful peppers! (I believe Christopher was the one who actually brought the Cappuccino's to everyone's attention) Don’t know if the source was the same, but those are some really beautiful little peppers! I’ve only ever see (in person) the reds- they are one of my favorite peppers! We get locally grown Pequins (in season) and the dried smoked ones also here at the local Mexican grocery… but never have seen the Tepins being sold. :tear:

Really nice selection you have so far, will be fun to see its progression! Best of growing and abundant harvests your way!!
