D3's 2016 Growlog

Well 2016 is already fast approaching and it's time to start thinking about what to grow this coming year. Last year I started seeds in mid Dec and was running out of room for plants by the time plant out finally came. I think this year I will start the majority in January.

I was going through my seeds to send to a few and figured it was time to start formulating a list of what I want to grow.
There was a lot that I grew 2015 that while ok, I didn't see myself growing again and a few that definitaly made the grow list again. a few off the top my head being paper lantern, baha goats and moa bonnets. Just the right heat levels and great as smoked powders.

I left them out, they look fine. Going to be 81f today. Stopping by harbor freight see about that greenhouse and maybe pick up a bunch of mulch. Cedar is fine around the gardens right?

Set some mouse traps for voles last night. Thankfully none yet.

your plants are looking great

i wish i could start putting mine out :mope:
went from warm days cold nights last week to just cold and rainy here now.  Few more weeks and i can put mine outside too :)

i gasped when i saw all the culls you threw out   that's one of the hardest parts for me

great looking grow and you've got lots of interesting crosses that i'm curious to see how they turn out too.

yea, it's hard, next year I won't have to cull nearly as many since I just bought this little 8x6 greenhouse. Only $239 at harbor freight. Box was skinny enough folded down the back seats of the jeep and slid it between driver and passenger seats. Still couldn't close the back hatch but at least it wasn't hanging out of the vehicle.

A little late in the spring but i'm going to go ahead and put it together so it's ready for this fall and next spring. Worse case I will put a tarp over it peak of summer so the polycarb panels don't haze  up in the sun.

I might add a small space heater in feb or so and bring the seedlings out then. I'm getting ready to put the base together so I know how big I need to make the floor. Going to use 4x4's to anchor it down. Should be heavy enough to keep it from blowing around. my back yard slopes so going to be some work leveling a spot.

I only have one suggestion - dig into the slope, instead of trying to build-up on it =)

yea, just cutting in enough to level the 4x4's then will use a heavy weed mat or tarp for the floor like I did for my garden. I'm too lazy to dig out all that sod.

Got the sod cut out the way and some leveling done though I have a bit more to do. One side about 8" higher than the other and the clay's hard as a rock. Picking up a few bags of sand for final grade, probably do gravel inside.

Left mine outside last night and it hit 42ish last night, plants looked fine this morning. Having some serious issues with root bound plants. Need to get them in the ground!

Had a few hours to play before work tonight. Got the base cut, squared and leveled. front right side was really low and had to build it up a little with sand. Looking at it from any angle looks high but according to my spirit level it's good.....

real windy and rumor of up to 2" hail tonight so didn't start on the framework. Brought the larger crosses in for the first time in 4 or so days.

I also amended the garden beds with a few bags of mushroom compost, hummus & manure and a tiny bit of elemental in each bed and tilled it in. Will till the beds one more time before plant out.

No idea wtf i'm going to do with all that sod.

After a week outside, kinda bummed but I brought my plants into the sunroom. We are supposed to get stormy and cooler weather the next few days. Your plants are going to appreciate all the TLC you are giving the soil.

yea same here, supposed to rain a few days this week. figures it would be on my day off when I was going to finish the green house.

Spent a few hours today putting this greenhouse together. Talk about frustrating. Absolutely the worst directions i've ever delt with. Seems to be the biggest common complaint on the internet. Buddy said he was putting the same one together and two of his friends that was helping got frustrated and left.

Got the door to the greenhouse on today, doesn't seem to track that well. Bottom doesn't roll like it should. Will need to play with it. All I got left is the windows and then to put the poly panels in. I'm off monday will get to do it then. Will also build some frame work inside to help reinforce it and some shelving for plants.

I put off watering a day too long. Came down to several of the plants wilted including one of bums hot rod serrano x maui purple. Gave them all a good fert and feeding.

I waiting way too long to do it but I evicted the crosses outdoors and seperated my pots a space so they wouldn't be so crowded in their flats. Some the plants where suffering greatly because of the crowding. Most my baccatums are all stretchy and top heavy.

I also filled a garbage bag full of over growth from the hydro unit and vacuumed all the dead leaves out. Crap ton of ripe runty pods I need to pick off the bahamian goat.

So i have considered those lil green houses before, I have watched some youtube videos for reviews. One thing i see a lot of people complain of is those panels have some cheap little clips holding the panels on so they recommend screwing them on, the other main complaint is the tracks on the doors. Good luck, it really does look like a nice small green house.

Yea I also seen some use silicone. seems like some small self tapping screws would be a easier and cheaper route to go as long as it doesn't split the panels.

I wish I would of found this video before I put mine together. Would have saved me a few hours of cursing and throwing the directions because those are about useless.
