EDIT- August 24-
I changed the title to hopefully catch the eye of Seattle area folks who may not know that NWCF stands for Northwest Chilefest which also includes the Saturday potluck. :D

Hey guys, we talked about this before, reservations open up 6 months ahead of the available date and we are coming up on the Friday opening in just a couple days!

I'm planning on the Thursday-Monday again, that worked great for us.  We're looking at Yurts and all sorts of stuff.  I'll be linking a PM to some, but I can't remember everyone's log in.  Please shout out to those you see in other threads and let everyone know of the dates.  The yurts go quick, campsites not so fast.  I think I'm going for campsite 25 again.  We'd looked at getting a yurt, but yurt site 18 is pretty shaded to be in for 5 days.

PM on the way!

Let the Bookings Begin!

Actually..... they already have begun!  WOOT!  I have campsite 24 and Yurt 18.  Hawkeye has his site booked.

Dates are Sept 9-11.  I'm booked a day before and a day after.  The Yurt is avaialbe to whoever wants/needs it.  I just wanted to get it locked in for our group.

claims have been staked for sites 24, 25, 26, 28 and a yurt.

I'm still not sure which state park it is.  Did I miss anything?

kanaskat-palmer state park?

Yes, Kanasket-Palmer.

Sept 9-11

There's been other discussions in PM's so it seems kind of quiet here, but there are some good plans in the works, and some of our traditions from past years ;) .  As posted, 4 campsites and a yurt are reserved.  Some of those will be doubling up with tents, vans, etc, so there is a good number of folks going to be there, and if you need to share a campsite (not sure if there are still sites available???) there are places to share.

Hope you can make it!

Bumping this thread as there are some new folks here!

We are ON for sure, time to get a bit of discussion going.

I'm thinking of doing some homemade buttermilk pancakes Sunday morning.  Yay? Nay?

That sounds great Ann!  I'm bringing out a smoker and double grill. Thinking about smoking some mussels and maybe roasting some whole chicken or roast.  If charcoal or burning is allowed at that time i'll throw something over the coals.  Will figure out a menu before then.

I saw PaulG last weekend at the Portland hot sauce expo. We didn't have much time to talk other than who's coming.

We don't have burning bans on yet, so keeping hope up that we can have campfires and open burning.

I have a little something planned and hope to post pics tomorrow...

BTW... I can get 20 pounds of chicken wings, have a burner and pot.

Should we do some WANGS?

Fresh green beans from the FM last weekend, so I made 3 jars of dilly beans.

Plain
Jalapeno
Jonah 7 Pot

Couldn't resist, had to give 'em a try even though it's only been a week.  Little bite on the jalapeno beans, and those 7 Pots!  Nice Bite which I think will get spicier the longer they sit and Man! can you taste the flavor of the 7 Pot!

Phil, hope you can stay and visit for a bit.

Hey Ann. I'm back and have a lot of catching up to do. Have you put out a list of things needed? Looking forward to spending time with wonderfully crazy chile folks.

Perfect Timing, CA!  Iwas just getting ready to post! :D

Quick question for y'all----shall we do a wing eating challenge?  I'm making wings...... got a new 13mil Pure Evil....  Just Sayin~~~~   :mouthonfire:

So, here's what I have so far-

Friday evening and Saturday morning everyone's on their own for food.

Plan on the Saturday potluck at 2:00, hopefully people will come earlier to hang out.  Organic Pepper was talking about smoking some whole chickens, and I have 20 pound of wings.  I can get more if it sounds like we need it.  Looks like chicken is the main entree, so the rest of pot luck can be apps, salads, desserts, sides....

BYO-Beverages, chair, and something for the potluck.

If someone is traveling and would like to offer paper plates and cutlery as their contribution to the potluck, that would be great.  Otherwise, plan on bringing what you need, we'll have extras around anyway.  I'm pretty sure I have goods from last year to use.

Sunday morning I'll make some homemade buttermilk pancakes, bacon and eggs.  (RS67~ will your gas cookstove be available to use for the eggs?)  PaulG will be mixing up his specialty :woot:

List of things needed-

- 2-3 wing sauces (Someone can make them or order from that crazy wing sauce guy ;)  the Frank's RedHot classic is always good for one of them, I have a recipe for a sweet Asian plum sauce that's pretty good.  Also remember that a lot of people are not into superspicy.)  I figure we need about 3 quarts total.

-3 dozen eggs (for pancakes and breakfasts)

-1 pound butter, maple syrup, berry syrup

-campfire wood (the more the merrier!)

OgPepper, what do you need?  (seems like I'm forgetting a lot, but I guess just making it a potluck makes it simpler.)

How does this sound?

Hawkeye, Seahawks game Sunday, John's working on getting the antennae in the motorhome working and bringing a nice flatscreen monitor.  Whatever else we need to get the game on, we can bring a long RG6 cable, or do you have something planned?

OH! We didn't rent the picnic shelter, figured to just find a place at one of the campsites, or maybe in the grass by the bathhouse.  If I have room I'll bring the Pop-up canopy.  The campsites have mixed sun and shade and the bathhouse lawn is full sun.  So- everyone come to campsites 24-28-ish.  You know the ones~

SL

PS if someone else want's to jump in and do wings, or somehting else, PLEASE!  post up and go for it!  Won't hurt my feelings.  I'm just trying to make it easy to have the main protein covered for the potluck.

And also- we always seem to have plenty of leftovers for dinner Saturday night.

I won't be bringing as many of the sauces and salsa as usual, so if anyone wants something specific, let me know.

I'm glad to see one of those bad boys made its way into a bloody mary. My wife and I put up 35 pints of those from our garden this year and all I kept thinking about while canning was how good they're going to taste in a breakfast bloody mary while camping over Labor Day!

You Got It!  Things were percolating in the brain and I realized...we're only a couple weeks out from the campout!  And Bloody Mary Sunday Morning!  If I wanted to get some dilly beans made, better get on it!

35 PINTS!  NICE!  That's...like.. 1/2 a pint a week...
and prolly 30 beans per pint...
and at 1 bean per drink is...
