Maybe I will give that a try this year. I decided to put a few plants in the ground.

Yellow Manzano, Rocapica, and PI355812 are out in the elements now.

This URL will give you an overview... the main thing is to add your adjuncts first and rake out the soil so you have good contact between the soil and the plastic sheeting. if using soaker hoses or drip tape, install them next. Drip emitters can go on top later. The plastic mulch goes down after that and then you punch holes in the plastic and transplant into them. I also set up a low row cover over top of the plants covered in 4mil sheet poly. When the weather stabilizes to nights in the 60s I remove the low row cover and let the plants go. The plastic mulch stays in place all season. http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/wps/portal/nrcs/detail/al/about/outreach/?cid=nrcs141p2_022807

Group shot enjoying a beautiful day.

A beautiful sight. I get a lot of spiders and have not had any issues with other pests in past years.

Looking damn good! Have you dared to crack open any of the sauce I sent?!
Thanks. I have a self imposed rule of not opening more hot sauce until I finish what I have open. The white sauce is next.

The ladies are ready!
Just waiting on the weather. I have 5 or 6 planted, but held off because of the weather. Mid 40's and no sun the last few days. Over the next week, full plantout will happen.

I have the same rule! Otherwise there will be jars and bottles everywhere oxidizing!
The white sauce won't hold its color pigment long after opening. Not that it affects taste, just so you know. Again, you can use them as is or as a base for whatever you want to try and make. Enjoy :)

Me too, and it takes a while to finish bottles ...

I kind of wish the bottles were the smaller size, but it wouldn't really help in the fridge all that much because the footprint isn't much smaller ...

Unless they became short enough to put under the cheese drawer - that would be awesome ...

Off topic, but that's my favorite thing about the Founders beers, they fit on the top shelf with the cans! =)

Running with the "off topic"....

I prefer beer in cans these days.  I have gone through the micro brew phase and all sorts of beer drinking phases...  I know this about cans:
- I cannot get a "skunked" beer in a can.
- A can will never smash into pieces when accidentally dropped
- I have not noticed a change in flavor between a can and bottle, except that a bottle of beer can get skunked and the can will not.
- You can have fun crushing an empty can.  Of course, breaking bottles can be fun too, just messier and someone can get hurt if you are not smart about it.  Yeah that happened once.
- Those Heineken keg cans were great when they were available...

I have noticed more breweries using cans.  I think that is a good thing.  Go cans!  (for now until I change my mind).

Here is a small update with a few pics.

I put about 4 or 5 plants out last week and they look pretty good considering the weather has been rain and a 45/55f temp range.

First time growing garlic...appears to look ok.

Weather is finally changing this week and I will be planting the rest of the peppers.

I wish I could grow the pubes here, just too hot

Garlic tips:

It's a 9 month endeavor. I start mine 9/15, my brother in Ohio starts his 10/15. When 1/3 of the crop has its tops fall over pull them and hang them to dry out of the sun. Onions are cool with sun exposure, garlic no. Hang them to dry in the shade and when the tops are totally dry, I mean totally, cut the roots short and the tops off. Now you can bring them in the house. I still have last years harvest in the garlic basket, and we use it all the time. This years harvest is in 30-60 days depending on the garlic ;)

Thanks for the tips. I will post pics before I do anything to them.
