Coach's 2016 Glog

I just read my first glog post from last year again and was embarrassed. Last year was the first year I grew peppers from seeds and learned a flipping ton from this site & this site alone, really. I had a lot of experience gardening but there were a lot of tricks to growing peppers from seeds that I had to figure out. Once I dialed it all in, it was smooth sailing. I ended up with 280 plants & 180 varieties in 2015... thousands & thousands of pods and very few problems after they started growing true leaves. Beginner's luck. I grew a lot of things I didn't care for and others that were OK but unspectacular, along with finding some really outstanding varieties. I learned A LOT in the past year- not that I don't have plenty more to learn. A huge thank you to all who have shared seeds with me and given me other advice.

If I'm being completely honest, I have to admit aesthetics are a huge part of why I enjoy growing peppers. Yes, I like the heat and taste and I consume hot peppers at least once a day, but looks are really important too. Too much of my time is spent looking at pictures of peppers. :) Some of the annuums don't excite me much but are good eating. Besides that, I don't have any that I'm not excited about because of heat/taste and aesthetics.

I'll add a few, I'm sure but I'm pretty content with what I've started. I'm always interested in dark plants, yellow pods and superhots crossed with small pods so my eyes are still open for a few more.

Here are some I've started.

I spent most of today working on this greenhouse with my dad. Almost done. 10'x16' & about 8' tall. I'm pretty pleased with the way it's coming out.

I'm really loving that categorical breakdown! Nice approach to things opposed to the 'norm' of a super long list (even when still in sections such as ...7 Pots, Aji's, Hab's, etc..) Most excellent list of varieties! Greenhouse is off to a great start- looking forward to see when its completed! Best of growing Coach!!

lol big list again! good luck man!

nice greenhouse start. i don't think you'll be able to fit them all in there lol. just for starting and bringing in a few favorites i guess?
Thanks. Yeah, so much for keeping my list short. I couldn't resist. Peppers will all go outside in the ground when it's time.

Everything looks good.   Got some nice starts already.  When you get done with that greenhouse, come build me one please.
Haha. It was more my dad. My arm still isn't great after being broken in 4 places & ligament damage in mid-Oct. I'm happy with how it's turning out though. I saw youtube videos of these cattle panel greenhouses that we're easy to make. Only problem I saw was they could only be about 7' wide & about 6'2" in height. By adding 3' of wood at the bottom, I added height & width.

Nice list Coach what no red moa? ( I am bias lol)
I like them better then the yellow even though there most likely crossed with something .
Best wishes on your 2016 grow !
Thanks. I grew it last year & thought it was OK. Probably one of the last to get cut though.

I had a regular long list but wanted to break it down & see what I had in categories. I actually eliminated a few that way, especially in the red superhot category. Thanks.
