Summer Savory

I found some old family recipes over the holidays that had summer savory as one of the ingredients. So I'm going to add this herb to the garden this year. Any others on THP use this herb ? my herb garden is growing and will have the following herbs:

chives
shallots
garlic
spicy oregano
Italian oregano
sweet basil
purple sage
rosemary
thyme
summer savory
lavender
cilantro
pasrley
Bay Laurel leaves

Never had luck with Lavender, always dies, just not the climate.
Looking at the list it reminds me of when I tried making Swiss Chalet sauce from scratch, succeeded, dont recall the recipe I used lol. Today's sauce is not even sauce, its absolute crap compared to 20 Years ago when it was full of flavor. Would be interesting if some of us tried to make our own versions and post them :D

I will be making a spaghetti sauce today that has the following ingredients in it from the garden. the parsley, savory and onion are from the local market as I'm not growing these yet or they are not ripe. I'm also making a Greek lemon chicken soup :)

bell pepper
onion
shallots
garlic
spicy oregano
Italian oregano
sweet basil
purple sage
rosemary
thyme
summer savory
lavender
parsley
Bay Laurel leaves

i have never had luck growing summer savory from seed but do use the dried version in soups and such.

i do have an herb garden, the herbs that return every year are common oregano, spearmint, chives and english mint. thyme is biennial and depending on the winter sage can be biennial and i have had luck with italian parsley surviving for a couple of years. in the spring, nurseries are stocked with fresh herbs that allow me to refresh the herb garden.

if i want rosemary to survive it becomes strictly an indoor plant.

good luck with the spaghetti sauce.
