cooking To cook and use or not to use...that's my question

So I made a batch of sriracha and put in a couple jars to ferment and get nice and tasty. I forgot about them. Found them today. Date on the lid is 9/2013. Popped the lid on one jar and it smalls great and doesn't look bad in anyway. So...do you think it would be safe to strain and cook and give it a try or should I just toss?

Use it. Let your nose guide you.
Or my stomach after a bout of Ebola....lol

Really though...it smells fine and there was no fuzzy things or discolorations on the top. I guess just the idea of a jar of peppers sitting out for 2+ years has me a little uneasy. I have it on the stove cooking now while waiting for some answers. I'm about to give it a taste. Smells good though.
